Send some pixie dust our way, we made an offer today on DVC. Being a holiday, they won't fax the paperwork to us until Tuesday. I am afraid to name the resort just yet. I don't want to jinix it. If all goes as planned, we hopefully will be closing in a few weeks. Wish us luck....smjj

Is it a resale? I only ask since you said you "made an offer".

Congratulations!!

MDF :)

Guess I could have stated that. Yes it is a resale from Timeshare. We looked and looked and read and read and decided to take the leap. Now that its done, I know we made the right decision...smjj

Good luck to you!! I know how you feel about not wanting to jinx it all... I felt the same way with our resale we closed on less than a week ago. I hope all goes well for you!

We're waiting on tomorrow's fax as well due to today's holiday.

Wish us luck, and pixie dust, folks!

OK, The sellers excepted our offer, the Timeshare people have faxed us the documents that we are sending back overnite tomorrow. They say that Disney should not have any problems with it and we hope to close in 4 to 5 weeks. Now the question I should have ask but did not think of until now. Its a use year of June. Be honest, I think its a good choise for us but what do all of you current owners think of a June use year(I.E. trying to book for first week in Dec.) and other considerations. Am I getting to involved in this or what!!!@...smjj

Pixie Dust!

June use year has no bearing on making a December ressie, as long as you will have the points to use (current, banked or borrowed points), you can make a December ressie 11 months out at your home resort and 7 months out at any other. The use year has a bearing on cancellation and being able to bank the points used for the cancelled reservation. The times that you will have to be careful about making reservations will be for May and April.

I hope all goes well for you!

Good luck! Don't worry about the June Use Year. It has nothing to do with when you can book. The only bearing use year has is if you are prone to cancelling late, you would want the ability to bank those points. We have a March use year, and usually travel in January. That would be bad if we were prone to cancelling, but in 8 years, we have never had to cancel yet.

A June use year will work just fine for a December vacation - even if you have to cancel it. I'm assuming you will cancel at least 31 days ahead of arrival to avoid having your points go into the holding account.

With a June use year, you have until the end of November to bank up to 100% of your points. So if you have to cancel that December vacation and can't reschedule it before the end of the following May, you can still bank all of your points if you do it before the end of November. That would give you a whole extra year to use them!

Best wishes -

OK, but if I have a June use year, Dec. is just 7 mo. away. The next Dec. is in the next use year. Does this mean I could book Dec. but only 7 months in advance with a June use year? They will not let you book into the next use year will they??..smjj

If you want to book in December, you book the ressie 11 months from the date of check out. MS takes it out of the correct use year.

You can always book 11 months in advance. As diane said, MS just takes it out of the correct use year.

Book December 2005 in January 2005. At that time you will use your June 2005 points. In May 2005 you decide you want to try VWL. At that time (since it is 7 months in advance) you call and switch to that resort if it's available.

This is one aspect of using points that seems to confuse people. You will get the hang of it after a while.

Use year has nothing to do with when you can call to make a reservation. That is always 11 months ahead of check out for your home resort and 7 months ahead of check out for a non-home resort. The points do not need to be in your account when you call. They just need to be there when you arrive.

Mke your self a chart like this:

2004 use year goes from 6/1/04 - 5/31/05
2005 use year goes from 6/1/05 - 5/31/06
2006 use year goes from 6/1/06 - 5/31/07
2007 use year goes from 6/1/07 - 5/31/08
etc.

If you want to stay in December 05, you would use 2005 use year points because December 05 falls within your 2005 use year. For the December stay, you could also use 2004 points if you banked them into 2005 by the deadline. You could also borrow 2006 use year points if you needed more. No matter which points you end up using to "pay" for your stay, you can call in January 05 to make the reservartion.

Once you borrow or bank, the points cannot be returned - you have to use them by the end of the year they were borrowed into or banked into. If not, you lose them.

Ask more questions if you need to - but remember, you can always make a reservation 11 months ahead of check out at your home resort as long as there will be points in your account to cover it when the stay actually starts.

A lightbulb in my head just came on and I now understand. Thanks everyone...smjj
