Just Keep Swimming - March 31-April 7, 2013 - Closing Thoughts (Updated 5/17)

Boo for leaving BLT but yay for heading over to AKL! That is another great resort and it is a plus saving up some points. :thumbsup2

Hey, I'm finally caught up. The mini-golf looked like fun. They've really decorated/themed those holes pretty creatively. However, my kids think that the object of mini-golf is to get through it as fast as possible, no matter how many strokes it takes.

DisneyQuest on a rainy day during Spring Break sounds like a nightmare. I've never told my 13-year-old son about DQ...he'd never go anywhere else.

I didn't know that you could buy packs of Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom cards in the shops! My son'd like that. He has everyone else get cards for him, which works out much cheaper, but a pack of 7 at one shot'd be good.

Oh yeah, you got a great room location at Jambo House.

Awesome update! :)

Thank ya - thank ya vera much ....

This is the most fun we have had playing mini-golf. Now that the kids are older, there isn't any kind of emotional meltdown when one child does better than the other. They are old enough to play for fun and that makes it so much more enjoyable.

I was so glad I didn't go. I don't really like in there on a good day. I can't imagine how bad it was that day.

Yep. Nice that he can get people to just get some, though.

Oh yeah, you got a great room location at Jambo House.

We really did get a great location. We were very pleased with it.

Mm breakfast looks good! Glad you got to 'Ohana for breakfast. Having a child with a peanut allergy must be very worrisome!
Great view at AKL!

I can certainly understand your hesitance for booking Ohana with the allergy concern. I'm glad you finally got to try it out during breakfast though. I might be wrong, but I thought I heard somewhere that they stopped using that peanut sauce recently. :confused3

I love your DS's Agent P look. Hopefully he didn't turn into a glittery platypus.

It may not be as big as your BLT room, but the AKL room does look very nice. And the view is certainly quite nice for a Standard View room. :thumbsup2

You guys got leis?! It seems like every time we go to Ohana we never get leis. YOU LUCKY DUCKS.

MICKEY LOOKS SO CRAPPIN’ CUTE IN HIS LITTLE HAWAIIAN OUTFIT AND LEI omg.

The rooms are very dark at AKL but they are so pretty! We have only stayed at Kidani—I think…oh wait no. We stayed at Jambo when I was two. Don’t remember that…—but I think it is so nice there. Probably because I love AK so much, but ya know.

It really is worrisome. You wouldn't believe how many things have nuts in them or are made in factories with nuts. And since it is a life threatening allergy, we are constantly on alert.

Great view at AKL!

I was really surprised. With standard view I was expecting a parking lot or a roof top, but we got lucky for sure.

I think they got rid of everything BUT the peanut sauce. But I don't know for sure.

Nope. Not a vampire either.

We got lucky with the view for sure. I was expecting some bushes or a dumpster, but we got a good one !!

Each of us got one. DD ended up wearing all of them at one point throughout the day.

He does !! DD was most excited about meeting Lilo.

AK is a cool park. Even though I am not wild about the Avatar idea, I am ready for them to get started on it. AK needs something new and so does HS.

Day 6 Part Two

We got our things settled in the room at Animal Kingdom Lodge and headed out to Epcot. Some photos on the way out to the car.

We were heading to Epcot !!

Because we were late getting to the park, the fast passes were gone for Soarin' and Test Track. DD really wanted to do Test Track, but even the single rider line was 45 minutes, so we passed.

We consoled her with some ice cream.

She wanted to see the butterfly house, so we headed that way.

At this point I was texting my friend Lorrie (tazdev3225 here on the Dis) who was also at Epcot on this day. She has a trip report going as well and has some great photos. Here's the link.

We planned to meet up with her in France a little later in the day.

Ice Cream is always better than a ride especially with those wait times. :lmao:

Nice butterfly pics. And thanks for the plug. I'm lonely over on my TR.

You are right. Ice cream makes most things better.

I will come visit you ...:goodvibes

Love seeing the animals at AKL.

Too bad about the fastpasses, but that ice cream would have cheered me up. :)

You got some great pictures of the butterflies; I'm not sure mine turned out (I started my Epcot day, but haven't gotten to that part yet).

Can't wait to read more.

Ohhhhh look at all the animals! Right there on your resort! Haha I'm too excited for that.
Too bad about the wait times/FPs for TT, but ice cream is a pretty good consolation prize.
The butterfly house looks so cool, some day I want to go in one!

I know it. It is so cool. We had a savannah view last year and it was amazing !!!

Ice cream fixes most things, or at least makes you feel better for a little while.

I need to go visit and catch up with your TR. Today !!!

Can't wait to read more.

I am so happy you are here. Thanks !!!

:guilty: :sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad:

Can I have a Mickey ice cream too? :guilty::guilty::guilty::guilty:

Bhahahaha. We had snack credits to burn. Might as well have some ice cream since Test Track

Dang, fast passes sell out fast huh?

For realz. And they are so expensive, too !!

It is really cool to have them right there. Do you have a savannah view ?? We did last year and it was amazing !! Are you staying at Jambo or Kidani ?? We liked Kidani better. Our room was huge and the view was spectacular !!

Too bad about the wait times/FPs for TT, but ice cream is a pretty good consolation prize.

Ice cream is always the best consolation prize.

The butterfly house looks so cool, some day I want to go in one!

It was really pretty in there. I felt sorry for some of the butterflies, though. Some of those little kids weren't so gentle and well, that never ends well.

Your AK pics make me so excited to stay there in October!

I just love the butterfly garden and the fairies. F&G is such an awesome time to go.

I have finally have all my HHI pictures edited and I'll be uploading them soon. I'll probably put a few in my next TR update. ;)

YAY for an October trip !! Food and wine - booyah !!!

We really enjoyed all of the flowers and topiaries. It was all so beautiful.

I am definitely interested in seeing those for sure !!

Day 6 Part Three

After texting my friend Lorrie to set up our dismeet, we continued on our way towards the world showcase.

We stopped at the food booth in the UK.

We got the Baked Goats Brie with Kumquat Chutney.

This was good. DH enjoyed it more than I did. The chutney was a little tart and I would have preferred something a tad sweeter, but overall a good snack and something different to try.

Im still kicking myself for not getting the Trio of Trifles.

We moved on and got some more photos.

DD wanted some more ice cream and they have this booth in France the sells the best ice cream. She got a vanilla cone.

This ice cream is so smooth and creamy and tastes so good. The consistency of this ice cream is perfection. If I were to get one, I would get chocolate, but I was saving myself for this beauty.

This is called the La Vie en Rose Frozen Slush (Grey Goose Vodka Orange, St. Germain liquor, White and Red Cranberry Juice)

The best drink EVER !!

Then it was time to meet with my friend Lorrie.

While I was talking to her and enjoying her company, DH was taking photos.

Heres Lorrie and I talking

She was so nice and it was so wonderful to meet her. She and I have been commiserating over ankle injuries. She has one similar to mine. She probably needs to have surgery, but she hasnt taken that road yet. But it has been nice to have a friend that truly understands how hard and depressing this injury has been for me. I am very thankful for her friendship and again, I really enjoyed meeting her.

My hair isnt that long anymore. I cut off about 8 inches and I love it a little shorter. It feels so swingy. Anyhoodle &.. another picture of Lorrie and I.

After our dismeet, she was headed out and we continued on through the World Showcase.

I loved this guy. Such a creative arrangement.

And these succulents. So cool.

These were interesting.

Next up, DH and I had food at the American pavilion. It was the same stuff we had the last time. For a full dining review go HERE.

I really had a great time chatting with you and your DD. She is a chatterbox much like my DGD. That 1st pic really isn't the best of me but I really don't like having my picture taken.

I will probably e heading down the surgical route but 1st I have to get the stress fracture to heal from all of the other damage. :sad2: It is nice having someone who understands the frustration.

I forgot that after we met I had to take off. That was the day they had an accident and construction and I got hopelessly lost again. The bad thing about staying offsite is traffic and having to leave early. If my mom and aunt stayed up past 9 PM I would have been OK.
