Might be the nite before Thanksgiving but getting in Holiday Mode. The Holiday decorations are up almost everywhere here except MK. I am sure the m agic will happen overnight tomorrow.
Picked up Turkey Dinner with all the trimmings at Publix too. The weather is Faboulous this week. We were here last year and it was COLD....this year we are enjoying the near 80 degrees each day. Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!!

Cool!

...err Warm!

Great!

I'm jealous....but I sure hope you have a great trip! Thanks for putting up the lights....I think it really makes it look like "home".

Happy Thanksgiving. (What time's dinner?) ;)

Just imagining the way those porches sparkle is making me feel festive. Thanks for the vision! Happy Thanksgiving. Have a great time!!!!

Seeing the festive lights on the balconies is one of our favorite memories of OKW. Thankyou!!

We're headed down in 2 weeks also. Last December, instead of putting our lights on the porch (it was pretty well hidden from view), we wrapped them around the TV stand. It made the room festive, and at least we could see them there.

Don't use up all the warm weather -- please leave some for us! :)

We are arriving at OKW this Thursday (Dec 13, 2001) and then staying until 12-24:D . I would like to decorate the porch when we arrive. Is there an outlet on the porch? What did you hang the lights with? How many strands did you hang? Any other suggestions would be appreciated?

Michael

We were just there last weekend in a 2BR.

Yes - there is an outlet on the balcony. (On our's - it was between the door entering the Master BR and the doors entering the living room - in the corner)

I had bought a single strand of 100 lights - and it made it 3/4's the way around the balcony - could definitely have used a longer strand - or two.

We had brought suction cups last year - but found out we didn't need them. We were able to just drape them in and out of the railings - it worked fine.

Some people really went all out and draped not only the railings, but also the columns. They looked fantastic!!

Have a great time - wish I was back there, now! :)

Last time I did the lights, I was able to do it like Beth and just wind them in and out of the railing....didn't even need masking tape that I had brought along.

Gee....wish I was hanging those lights again this year....maybe next! Have a terrific time.

Thanks for the info. I will try to go all out. Since I am from Chicago, I prefer hanging lights in 70 degree weather:smooth:
I will let everyone know how it goes.

Thanks,
Michael

We sorta went all out - my DH is the Clark Giswald in our neighborhood! We did the strand lights in and out of the railing and also hung icicle lights from the top. We used the 3-m crstal clear stick on hooks. Very small and not noticible. If you happen to be in building 16, 17, 24, 25 or 26 check your porch. Look hard they are hard to find but we leave them there. Once, we got the same exact room and viola - the hooks were there. It was a surprize to us but great memory. It really was like coming home! We also hung the red bows with long streamers on each pole and wrapped lights around the poles. I buy the lights there at walmart, bring them home and the additions help my DH keep his Clark image at home!
Have a wonderful stay and enjoy.

I have only been to Disney once during Christmas. We stayed at OKW and I must admit I was in awe of all the decorations people had out. It really does give you the feeling of being home? Thanks for the tip. If you hear about a guy falling off the balcony- that's me. :D

Do any of the other DVC properties have members that decorate the balconies?

Thanks,
Michael
