In a Flat Rate Priority box??

Anyone know? I have people that don't leave near us that would like to buy some cookies, but only if the shipping isn't too bad.

The current

--regular flat rate box is 11" x 8.5" x 5.5" or 11-7/7" x 3-3/8" x 13-5/8" and costs $9.80
--large flat rate box is 12 X 12 x 5.5 inches and costs $12.95.

I don't have a sample box with me, but I would guess that you could probably get 6 boxes in the larger of the two flat-rate shipping boxes.

That is my issue, I don't know how big the boxes are! I was hoping someone had mailed them before!

I was wondering the same thing myself so I looked it up on Google and this is what I found on ebay.. "Generally, 5-6 boxes will fit comfortably in the medium flat rate cube 11"x8.5"x5.5". Sometimes the dosidos and trefoils have to squeeze a bit, but they all arrive in good order. I've never had a problem. Thanks for asking!"

Cookies are pretty light weight. It may be cheaper not to use the flat rate boxes and use a regular box. Flat rate boxes are usually only a "deal" when you are shipping heavy things.

Probably very hard to answer because the boxes for each variety are sized differently. :headache: I don't have any here (yet) to measure, but I remember that they aren't all the same. Some boxes are wider, others are deeper, etc.

Totally agree! Unless they really want the cookies in a hurry, check out the rates for Parcel Post. Depending on your package weight and location it could save a fair amount.

Also if you want to save on the Priority Mail rate, you get a price break if you pay online and print the label on your own printer.

scrapquitler, you're absolutely right--I remember being very frustrated when working with Brownie/Girl Scout moms when we had to sort out and rebox our orders and the cookie boxes come in at least 4 different sizes. Such a pain to get them to fit!

I tried to put 10 boxes last year and they didn't fit in any of the boxes. We ended up shipping parcel for cheaper. Still would be better off to donate the shipping money to your troop and then pickup cookies at a local booth sale.

That is what we did with our "away" family this year.

It is generally less expensive (really it is) to use a regular box and then price it out for priority. The flat rate boxes are generally higher in price unless you have something really heavy in there.

You'd be better off sending the cookies parcel post, or even priority possibly than using a flat rate box.

You can get flat rate boxes free and bring them home to see how many will fit. I agree though, flat rate is probably not the way to go.

Here is a hint.

You can fit many more boxes in the postal box if theyre empty! :)

Hmmm cookies

Umm...being that this is a 3-year old thread, I think that the OP has figured it out by now......:lmao:
