Just how hot is wdw in august?

Hello: We are heading down in august (the last two weeks), now if anyone from ontario has just returned I would be interested in knowing is florida as hot and humid as we have been experiencing in ontario yesterday and today, or is it still alot hotter and more humid? Thanks,

We went two years ago from Aug 20-30 and it was quite hot and muggy with humidity. The average temperature was 25-30 degrees and with the humidex it actually felt like 30-34. We did the early morning and late evening at the Parks and went back to the resort in the afternoon. We are also going down again this year from Aug 27th to Sep3 and will be onsite at POFQ. Will you be there then? Would you be interested in meeting up? Have a great time!

Imagine today at it's warmest....that is a cool evening in August. When you walk out of a air condtioned room into the heat and humidity your sun glasses fog up....just the oposite that us northeners are used to in winter!! It is hot but go early,drink water, rest in afternoon and go back at nite. We are going again this Aug. and will work around the heat of the day.

I live in southwestern Ontario and it is so hot today that we don't even want to go outside to swim. (Can you say spoiled ). I passed one of those building signs that show the temp at 10:15 this morning and it was 36 Celcius then already. This is what it was like when we went to WDW in August many years ago. To top it off, our visit was during hurricane Andrew. People from south of Orlando were all being evacuated. From the crowds, it felt like most of them came to WDW. Hot, wet, muggy and busy. Make sure you bring along a water bottle every day, get up early to do the parks and nap in the afternoon, bring bottles of sunscreen and have a great time and above all, don't try to see everything in one visit. WDW is not going anywhere and it is important to have fun, not exhaust yourselves trying to see just one more ride. If someone in your party is starting to get cranky, stop and ask yourself what would feel best right now - a nap, an icecream, a swim - get out of the parks and refresh yourselves.

Hot enough to succumb and buy over-priced drinks and spraybottle fans!!! Actually it isn't that bad - not any worse than our hot and humid days.

Last week of July / First week of August:

Hot enough to require purchasing a cold spring water before leaving the parks every day, not to drink but to pour on the metal car-seat belt buckle to cool it down. Too hot to touch! No kidding, it can leave a red burn mark on the kid's legs.

Hot enough to reduce a forgotten O'Henry bar on the dashboard into peanuts sitting in a puddle of chocolate goo in less than an hour.

Hot enough to make you think, after waiting 30 minutes for a parade with your back to the sun, that your black golf shirt is about to burst into flames!

Have I made my point?

I made the mistake of going at the beginning of August about 3 years ago. It was unbelievably HOT! I had just gone the month before and it wasn't nearly as bad then. I live in Windsor where the smog and humidity is aweful BUT never have I experienced heat like that before. I have gone the past couple of years at the end of August going into September and found it fine. But I will NEVER EVER attempt WDW in August again!!

Crayons! Wow, I never thought of that. Over the years we must have left a about litre of restaurant crayon under the seats for the rental return guys! OOPS!

When the sun is rising in the summer mornings in Orlando, the outside air temperature is increasing so fast that condensation will form on the windows of your car. Much like a cold drink outside on a hot day, the car will actually be wet when you go out in the morning. The parking lot is dry but all the cars look like they've been parked in the rain and when you open your car it feels like the air-conditioning is already on. I have never seen that in Ontario.

Its not really that bad... Well maybe it is naww it is quite liveable. We have gone to FLA during August and September several times, and prefer it to the weather (and the crowds) during our trips in Easter and mid-summer... Our favorite time is late September, as it isn't quite as hot or muggy.

We got married in FLA 2 years ago and the weather was hot and humid, but compared to the weather in Newfoundland over the past few weeks, I actually like it in FLA better. The heat here is made worse by the blinding sun and the extra_bad humidity (being near the ocean and all), as I dont find Florida sun glaring, and enjoy the powerful rush of warmth as you leave the air conditioned hotel room.

We did 3 days at WDW 2 years ago, and had 17 days in Florida in total of near perfect weather... Some people said before we left that it would rain for 3 hours per day and be too gross to have fun, but it rained once or twice for about 30-45 minutes, and we had the best trip ever0... We did luck out with the timing between a couple hurricanes though. WDW was managable, especially during early morning. We took breaks and went back to the resort mid-day, and it was still hot on E-night.

I guess we like warm weather LOL Hoping that the weather in Florida will cooperate with us from Aug 9th to Aug 24th...
