Well - we finally made it....home that is!

We were due to return Friday but as the airports shut down at midnight on Thursday we were "forced" to stay another 4 x nights at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Disney were brilliant during the Hurricane - Characters in the hotel lobby all day & evening interacting with the kids - African drum & bongo players - African band playing - free coffee stations - WOW - we were really pampered. They laid on bagged food for breakfast & lunch ($3.00 & $5.00) and dropped the price in Boma to $14.99 adults $7.00 kids.

Really tired - left Sanford at 19.40 (Tuesday) - arrived Gatwick this morning.

Lots & lots to tell....but I'm afraid it will have to wait!!! Nodding of at the keyboard as I type!!!

I have loads of information on Bahama Bay Condo's (7 x nights)on US27, Animal Kingdom Lodge (11 x nights) and have visited some other sites, all 4 x disney parks (twice), both Disney water parks (Twice), Seaworld, Discovery Cove and many many many shops! Flew with Air Atlanta (Travel City Direct).
DS staying at Travelodge on 192, friends staying at Enclave Suites just off I Drive.
Ate at Boma (3 x times), Whispering Canyon, Rainforest Cafe, IHOP, Golden Corrall, Ponderosa, McDonald's,

If you need a swift reply - be quick - I need sleep!!!!!

I have copious notes for my trip reports and will endevour to start them in the next couple of days.

Hope everyone got back home safely and didn't have their holiday spoilt too much - some real damage done over the weekend...and everyone has a story to tell about their own experiences of "Francis".

We saw the aftermath of "Charlie" - experienced the wrath of "Francis" and got out just before "Ivan" visits!

Amazing holiday...........glad to be back safe and sound.

We hi everyone

DH started the thread so I'll continue !!

We had a fantastic time, the Bahama Bay resort on the I27 was 1st class and for anyone going there - you will love it ! our second week took us to Animal Kingdom Lodge this was also lovely. Lucy- love I'll pm you with some tips ! as I know you are off there in 4 days !

Then came last friday when we were due to fly home and found ourselves stranded ! in AKL for a further 4 days !

We heard on the TV on Wednesday evening that Sanford was closed on Friday due to the hurricane, Fortunately we managed to get to the Travel City Direct office first thing on Thursday morning where they told us to book into the AKL for at least a further 3 nights.

A recorded message on Friday morning from TCD confirmed that we would not be leaving until Monday at the earliest and that they would be paying for the extra nights and the extra car hire.

AKL were very good during the storm, although we found it rather boring not being able to leave the hotel, there is only so much colouring and card playing you can do ! and despite having 60 TV channels 4 of them were repeated disney films over and over again and the other 56 were weather channels !

As for the rescue remedy they once again calmed me down which helped on the flight. Coming home I cheated and bought some sleeping tablets from the supermarket. I took 2 a couple of hours into the flight and slept like a baby for 4 hours ! which is why I am up this morning and DH and DS are still in bed asleep - DD insisted on going to school ! so I am now waiting to see if I get a phone call to say that she has fallen asleep at her desk !!

Any questions about Bahama Bay or AKL please ask, all in all everything was brilliant and we can't wait to start planning for next year !
