First I thought it was awsome that DVC and Disney is giving such a great discount on the AP's and PAP's, but they took away the discount on PHP's, which is what I use, I was really hoping for a discount on the MYW tickets, but its not happening.

Then I found out about the DDE being offered to AP's holders, but I knew we really don't want AP's, so I can't get the DDE. Then when I heard that they may offer us some kind of dining plan, I thought how awsome if they would open up the DDE to members also!!!

Now I read we will be able to get a dining plan, but of course, not the one I want!!!! For us, its just way too much food!!!

It's great they are offering all these discounts and options to us! I just wish I could use some of them! :goodvibes

We got caught up in the excitement of buying the DDE card last month. It's $50 if you are an AP holder. I looked at it as saving us 20% on each meal at a sit down restaurant, but really I should have considered it just an extra 10% on what DVC owners already get. So for $50, I didn't really get the value out of it.

The only dinner it paid off for us was at Ohana's. I think we had about 11 of us.

I would be interested in hearing what meal plans are coming for DVC owners.

what kind of dining plans do they offer now?

DVCers are getting the dining plan a la MYW early next year. Can be booked in January for dates starting??? in April. DVCers do not have to buy tickets to get it. There is a post in the Planning forum. I just don't know how to attach it. Sorry.

I found the DDE to be an excellent value for us. I was rarely able to use the DVC discount--most are for lunch only, or for partial hours during dinner (5:30-6:30 or 9-9:30)

I was also pleased with the AP discounts, since they didn't offer any for the park hoppers we usually bought--just makes me plan our trips more carefully to use the APs to our advantage.

Haven't heard details of the dining plan--am interested to hear about it.

this is indeed great news. i am not even planning on buying park tickets for the entire duration, so if the news is true (about not requiring tickets for the entire trip), then it's wonderful.

To the OP, if the plan seems like too much food, you can always go to some of the signature restaurants or dinner shows. Those take two credits.

And the MYW tickets really are discounted already if you buy a longer ticket. Boy, longer ticket just sounds WRONG! :rotfl:

The dining plan has been available this year but only to people buying a package that includes room, tickets and dining. Now we DVCers can buy it too. On the restaurant board there are lots of posts about the plan.

It will be around $38/day/adult next year as I recall. Everyone in the party has to be on the plan. You get credits on your key. One table service, one counter service and one snack (pretty limited choices for snacks from what I've read) per night. At least I believe it is per night rather than per day. The signature restaurants and dinner shows take two TS credits.

I think it is yet another great choice for DVCers. :sunny:
