Just have to laugh

Is it "yadda" with 2 "D"s or "yada" with 1?

I always spell it with 1.

Just don't yada yadda over the best part.

I need friends like you! I don't think I know anybody who has gone to Disney as an adult. I am learning all I can on these boards and other sites but I still feel like I'm going into this blind.

I know everybody keeps saying to just pick a few things you want to do and work around them, but the problem is that I have no idea what attractions I should even be watching for. Where is a good place to find out what rides, events, and other attractions are "can't miss" at each park?
And where is the best place to stand for Wishes, the Electrical parade, and Illuminations?? I'll take all the advice that your friends and family don't want!!

I think I finally figured out all the food and have my ADR's booked so now its time to figure out what attractions are even in the parks and which ones we'll want to do for sure.

Wish me luck. WE have decided to half wing it. which means no rd only dinner
adr for half the time we are there and best park to tour plan. Hubby wants to relax and sleep in, I will be the over planning disney addict up at 630am waiting in the dark, for the non planning people to get up and moving. My sister thinks I will go slowly crazy with the three hours of waiting lol ....

I truly can't understand how anyone can't plan any vacation. You plan what time to go, you plan how to get there and where to stay and then stop planning???????

I truly enjoy living in the moment, but I also want to know the best of the best places and why and where and when.

Here's what I would do:
a)) Buy a tour book that describes all the rides and attractions.

b) Start a new thread. Tell us who is going, and when and for how long. And your tolerance for roller coasters, any medical conditions that would make Space Mountain or other jerky rides an issue.

And ask everyone their "must do's" in each of the park... and why.

Here are my own personal favorites:

Magic Kingdom: Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Pirates of the Carribean, Haunted Mansion, Monsters Inc Laugh Floor, Buzz Lightyear.

Epcot: Soaring', Spaceship Earth, Test Track, Mission:Space, and the World Showcase

AK: Safari, Kali River Rapids, Festival of the Lion King, Nemo

DHS: Toy Story Mania, Great Movie Ride, Stunt Show.

I"m not a big scary-ride person. My husband would add Exibition Everest, rockin roller Coaster and Space Mountain. The kids I teach would also include Tower of Terror.

Of all the evening displays, my FAVORITE is Illuminations at Epcot. I also enjoy Wishes and Fantasmic, but Illuminations is my hands down favorite.

I know they are going to come back and complain that is was to hot, the lines we to long, it's expensive yadda yadda yadda. Its going to be hard listening to him but if you're going to be dumb and not use good information that's given to you it your own fault. Okay my venting is over thank you for reading :lmao:

You already have what he is going to say all planned out?

I suggest the book Unofficial Guide to WDW. The rides are described well and sometimes with humor and you can get a good idea of what might interest you the most. There are touring plans and lots of information about events and so on.

You might want to make a list of must-do's and then tweak it a bit as you find out more. We did that at first and now we know what is most important and what we don't care about.

Also look at the "cheat sheets" on easywdw dot com. He has one for each park and tells you how to strategize. You'll figure out the ones he says to prioritize are the headliners. They are very helpful guides and not overwhelming. GL!

Where IS the best place to watch fireworks? Last time we went my kids were too tired to stay to watch fireworks and this year we definitely want to stay, and may even go to the MVMCP. I would greatly appreciate some tips as far as that goes! :)

Last year, we were ON Dumbo when the fireworks started. It was a great spot IMO :)

Thanks, just purchased the kindle version!
One warning: they are hard on restaurants. Try not to second guess your choices based only on what they say. It's so easy to question your picks and that is true whether you've been to WDW once or twenty times! ;)

You don't HAVE to sit in the dark and wait...lay out your clothes the night before, get ready quietly, and slip out the door!!! Go for a walk, explore the grounds, grab coffee/goodies, take photos with no people in the background, etc. Let them call you when they wake up, and go back to the room to meet them! I saw our Disney cruise ship dock in every single port; rest of my crew saw NONE :). DD has done this with me a couple times now as the guys snoozed--that was fun, too :). Epcot area resorts are perfect for this, BTW. Have fun!!!

i second this. I only sleep about 4 hours a day :thumbsup2 and always have. I am always awake at 4:45 in the morning no matter how late we stay up. I take a shower, leave and watch the world wake up to a new day. Some of the best conversations are ones I have with the grounds crews on my early morning walks. I see nature while they stay away from the crowds. I sse the mornng sun before it peeks at me. I greet the first bus of the day at the corner. Then, I go back and wake up the sleeping family. Then when we come back in the afternoon, and they take a nap, I head to the pool bar. :cool1: to do laundry of course :rotfl2:.

I admit it, I'm a planner......with that said, whenever we have gone, my daughter has left it up to me to do the legwork.....she had a say in what parks to go to on what days (after I did the research on EMH and park hours), when and where to eat....but I made the phone calls........So for her honeymoon, they decided they wanted to go to WDW for the first 3 days...she began to understand just what goes into planning a trip....all the while, her soon to be husband was ragging on her about the amount of time she was spending doing this research (he's not a big Disney fan, and thought it was just another theme park)...once they got there, he realized why she did the research and planning....he said he had the best time, and thanked her over and over for the effort she put into planning the trip.

On another thought....when someone comes to me and asks advise, I try not to overwhelm them....and I tell them first and foremost to be flexable....that they can not see or do everything on one trip...to pick out what sounds most interesting and go with that...if they can do more then that's a bonus.

Ive been going with my oldest daughter for a mommy and daughter trip for the last few years..Every year we plan everything out , but every year it gets more relaxed as we have found what we like , dont like , or want to try to do next trip . I do the 180 day reservations , im on the message boards and allears almost every day , i guess im obsessed.
Well my sister went to Disney for the first time this year with her boyfriend and kids , and my father and step mom....Well they all had a horrible time and say they will never go back. She is one of the ones that thought MK is WDW. I gave her tons of tips but she didnt listen and acted like she didnt need them. I told her to make reservations for dinning before she left , didnt listen and got stuck with "gross hotel food" the whole time she said...I felt bad but she should of listened to the Disney Stalker LOL :rotfl:

We're the family playing Disney guess where/who/what I am 365 days a year.

I've given advice to deaf ears only to hear the complaints upon return. You can eat at the castle? There's restaurants in the countries at Epcot?

The woman from the UK I met waiting for a parade who was paying $100 a night, had cockroaches and was an hour away. We ran to City Hall and moved her to the All star resort and saved mind and money.

My favorite moment was when we were walking thru Frontierland and as we passed a couple fighting over a map with two exhausted kids in tow. DD then 7 stopped, asked them where they were trying to go and then gave them perfect directions to the Haunted Mansion - I was so proud.

Ewwwwww!!!! That is definitely nasty. Some people refer to every budget place as fleabag but this one sounds really awful.

Yep, and it was the International Palms Resort on International Drive. I was wrong in that this place is actually *not* hours away, but my aunt confirmed everything else that happened to them while they were staying there. I checked out their website and am sort of surprised because it looks like a nice place.

This was my plan, to escape do little work, reading, people watch and basically enjoy resort. Im just joking about sitting in the dark or should i say everyone i know is teasing me about it.

i only offer advice when asked.

my ILs and BIL/SIL went to WDW in the spring. i only gave my MIL information regarding which apps would be useful while she was there. i didn't intrude. SIL didn't ask me for any advice, so i didn't offer it. even though my ILs had been with us and we'd told them WHY we don't ride Stitch, they got on it. my niece had a FIT and it ruined the rest of her trip. she didn't want to ride anything after that. she and SIL sat out of most attractions.

they told us they wondered why we'd never done it, but couldn't remember (DH and i did Stitch years ago and vowed never again). i told them i wished they would've texted me or DH to ask WHY we never did Stitch. :confused3

they still managed to have a good time. and that's what really matters. i hate it for my niece though, that she didn't have a good time.
