We just got a call that we got in on the SOG wait list for the end of April - which means we get to stay at the CR. I am so excited! Since we have a 4-y-o and a 2-y-o, being on the monorail will absolutely save this trip for us. We had ressies at the ASMo and I'm a little disappointed that the kids won't get to see that resort, but there's always next time, right?? I don't know if we could have afforded to stay at the CR any other way. I'm so excited (oops, I already said that.) Three weeks to go!!! YEAH!!!

That's great, Cameo!!
Do you know when you were put on the wait list?
I feel kinda sick that I took my name off for a definite ressie, maybe I should have took the chance and waited:(

Anyway, have a great time, you will love being on the monorail with little kids:) !

Please tell me what the SOG wait list is. I am really curious. I'm new to these boards and some of the abbrev. throw me at times. Thanks!

SOG is Shades of Green, the hotel operated by the Armed Services Rec people, for use by Armed Forces and Dept of Defence employees, retirees, etc. My husband is in the National Guard and that allows us to stay there. We have never stayed there, but were on the waiting list for this April and now our wait is over. Basically, it means enough people cancelled their reservations and now we get to snatch them up. Since SOG is undergoing renovation, they are transferring those people to the Contemporary North Garden Wing.

I think we got our wait list ressies set up around mid-Nov. We cancelled our original Sept. trip (we were supposed to stay at SOG), tried for December and couldn't make the schedule work, and so now we are on for the end of April. No backing out this time. When are you going? I suppose you could still try for the wait list, as long as you have backup ressies somewhere else??? Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I don't fall into the qualifications for SOG but I have a close friend who does and will relay the info to her.

Cameo,
Thanks for the reply. I started making plans in January, we are taking a niece and nephew on their first trip to WDW. We are going April 25-30.

I took a SOG overflow rate for OKW 2 BDR villa that I know will be awesome, but I stil think the monorail going through the CR would have been really special to those kids on their first trip:) .

Anyway, you can't have ressies through SOG and still be on the wait list. At the time I remember rooms were going fast so I took the sure thing.

Since reading these boards, I think next time I will know to make a ressie through DU or CRO and stay on the wait list at SOG.

Here's hoping for great weather for our April trips  !

We got in too! We are going the second week of April. I was put on the wait list in December. Have a GREAT TIME!!

nicurnc,

Just out of curiousity, what was the rate at OKW? We always book through SOG, and it's nice to know what the rates are for different resorts.

We booked two rooms at the Swan last time and enjoyed the extra space so much, we booked 2 rooms at SOG for our trip next Nov, and of course were moved to Contemporary.

Hunzi,

The rate for a 2 BDR villa was $310/ngt. We were thinking of 2 rooms at AKL or WL and this was cheaper, plus I like the idea of the kitchen for quick breakfasts and snacks.

Also, I think you can't have enough room when traveling with teens : )!

We are on the wait list for early December, I hope SOG can come through, I'd love to stay at the CR.
