I love your tips and am glad you were able to get into the Contemporary on short notice. Sounds like you had a nice time.
I have to get on the potty issue. A 4 year old using a portable potty is not something I have seen at Disney. It's Disney, I would be surprised if you could not find a clean bathroom and spray the seat with Lysol. Where in Disney can you find a secluded place for a little girl to pull her pants down and relieve herself. Actually, don't say because some very naughty people could start looking in those places. Growing up my mother had 8 children. On our drive to Disney, we sat in the back of the camper and had a Folger's can to use in emergencies. The porta potty would have been nice.
DD should be heading to Pre-K at 4 years old, will you take the porta potty to school as well. The germs there are probably lurking as well.

I must chime in here as well on the whole potty thing. Remember a loooong time ago in Europe when there weren't any "facilities" and people would throw their waste out the windows to the poor, unsuspecting people walking on the street below? Then remember what happened? The PLAGUE. Seriously folks, lets go pee and poop in the toilet, in the BATHROOM.. In the bathroom. The bum germs on the toilet seat are crawling all over areas you wouldn't expect: your kitchen sink for example. Or, the shopping cart handle. Imagine all the germs on the handle bars to your favourite ride - like the spinny things on the teacups (*note: even I used hand sanitizer after THAT one!).

I know it will be tough, but I would recommend that you stop coddling your dd and make her poop on the potty, in the bathroom. For everyone's sake.

By the way, you should charge for packing services. That's awesome. Just leave off the potty next time.

Just to chime in about the reason for using a "porto potty":

Having a child in preschool that has "pooping in public" issues or using regular size toilet issues can be a real problem. We had a 4 year old boy in our center that held it for so long (because he wouldn't go anywhere but home) that he ended up not being able to go. The poor child screamed when he finally went to the potty because it hurt so bad, then he was scared to go at all and ended up with a worse problem. Not judging you or your child just wanted to warn you that you may want to work with her on this.

As for the germs, I now work at a community college that has a Medical Lab Tech program. Our students tested many areas for different types of germs. The doors, stair railings, water fountain push buttons, elevator buttons and other type areas were worse than any part of the bathroom. So, not using the public toilet really isn't "saving" anyone from germs. Using hand sanitizer and Lysol and washing hands whenever possible is much more effective than not using the public bathroom.

Wow, I knew that through the OP's entire tip post, the potty thing would get people worked up! Personally, age 4 is pre-k here. Child should be trained to go anywhere at that point, unless there are special needs issues.

OP: What did your DD best friend think when DD was using a portable potty? What did her mother think about your carrying the elimination in a bag on your stroller?

I have a niece that also has issues because she refused to go to the bathroom. She is twelve and still has to take medicine every morning. It also makes it very hard once these issues are beyond their control to stay at a friends house. She clogs toilets once she is able to go so basically she ends up not being able to spend the night at any of her friends house. My father is a pediatrician and says how she is now is a direct result of not going when she needs to.

I have to say, I am a bit grossed out by pulling out the potty anywhere at the parks.
I too have a porta potty from Right Start, it's like a little suitcase. I use it for my 3 year old when we are trapped on the football fields and I dont want him to fall into the Don's Jon's hole! We love it, but would never bring it to the parks.....that stuff needs to be FLUSHED AWAY!

How about, toilet liners....they sell at Right Start, they are biodegradable....they have little stickers on the back so they stay in place AND they are larget enough to cover the whole toilet seat and then some for little hands.
I even use them for my older boys!

How is the OP throwing her child's elimination, that is contained in a plastic bag (that is how the little potty works, we have one), any different than the parent of an infant throwing their child's soiled diaper away?! I highly doubt many people are scraping the contents of the diaper out into a toilet as suggested on the side of the packaging. No one is complaining about that being a biohazard! I am not choosing a side here, just trying to understand your reasoning.

leaving for Disney in 17 days great tips, Went to the dollar store the other day and bought a glowstick wand and sword. Pretty cool! We will be using it for our MNSSHP

Just a warning... I bought glow sticks (not wands or swords) at Dollar Tree, and I bought the glow bracelets. WELL.. for Hurricane Gustav, we were out of power for 6 days, so I 'broke into' my Disney stash and got the glow stuff out for my kids to play with in the dark... the sticks AND THEN the bracelets all leaked.... some got in my DD's eye and it burned. The bracelet just slung the glow liquid all over her clothes. Nothing life threatening... but she was pretty upset about it getting into her eyes (of course, she does that if WATER gets in her eyes at bathtime. )

ANYWAY... just BE CAREFUL with the glow sticks.

I actually found at Walmart these little "glow sticks" that are actually small flashlights with a colored see-through chamber that lights up like a glow stick. I bought these for the trip and think they will be a little safer... and hopefully last longer... not just one night.

Just wanted to make sure everyone was aware of that glowing liquid could be dangerous.
