Just got back this morning. Sharing some pics

Nice shots; hope there are more to come.

How did you find the 18-135 as far as a "WDW Walkaround" lens? I've got much the same equipment as you, but fear that leaving the 70-300VR behind might be a mistake. Does the 18-135 reach far enough?

Thanks, and lots more are coming.

At times I would have liked to have had a longer lens, although I don't know if it would be worth carrying. 90% of the time the 135 & 50mm worked perfect.

I will tell you that I found myself thankful I had the 50mm. There were lot's of time where the 18-135 was just too slow. The 50mm has to be the best lens out there for the money.

I guess if you have the 18-200, that would be perfect. If that lens were $400.00 cheaper, it would be even better! :)

Hope that helps, and keep in mind this is the first time I have ever used a slr. (Use my opinion with caution) :)

Your observations mirror my own thinking, exactly and, may I add that if you had not mentioned it, I would have never known you were new to dSLR-world, as am I. EXCELLENT results, and will look forward to seeing some more.

Like you, I'd love to have an 18-200VR, but not gonna spend +/-$1K for a $750 list lens. I figure I'll use the 18-135 70% of the time, and reserve the 50 for shows and nighttime shots. Actually, I find that I cannot tell the difference in sharpness between the 18+135 and the 50 so, from that perspective, it's a great walkaround with the only real drawback being the lack of speed.

I'm planning on using the 70-300VR at AK, for sure, and debating about MGM. It would be really handy for the Indy Jones show and maybe some of the more brightly lit scenes in Fantasmic!

That will be a load, since I'll also have my MiniDV camcorder (small, light, but it all adds up). Doubt I'll take the 10-20 with me any day, although the perspectives it offers, especially at full wide (10mm) are unique.

Again, GREAT results form a great camera and super glass. Keep 'em coming!

I am done uploading.

I think I got some decent shots at AK with the 135. If you are planning on bringing the 300 only for AK, you would be surprised how close to the animals you can get on the safari...

Thanks for sharing! :thumbsup2 I'm glad you liked your D50 and lens combo. Last time I went with my D50 and 18-200 VR lens. I have since added the 50 f1.8.

What bag was in the pictures? Did it work well? How much would it hold?

Very nice work there- I especially like the night shots around Boardwalk. I am getting my D50 on Wednesday per UPS- can't wait.

Nice shots Jack. Nice to see the D50 with the 18-135mm at work at Disney. I'll be bringing that combo down there in Nov along with a few other lenses. Well done!

That probably calls for a visit to WDW to "test" your new cam, huh??

Actually I am thinking about going to Wishes this Friday night- park is open until 11:00 so I should have lots of time to test out that great low noise performance of the D50 I keep reading about. :)

What happened to the D200? :rolleyes1

Yeah- well... Long story short- My D70s is back to Nikon for more hot pixels (against popular advice ) so I ordered a like new D50 from B&H for $399 as just in case- plus I wanted a back up anyway. I still want to upgrade the D70 to a D80 or D200 at some point. Just have to wait until I can afford it (and can resist the urge for a new lens long enough) :rotfl:
