just got back from my DR

Hmmm...me thinks this poster isn't for real. :confused3
I think she's real. I get the impression she is posting from some kind of mobile device which would explain the texting shortcuts and terrible spelling.

ETA: She's also a teenager if that makes a difference to anyone.

Even if I post from my phone, I don't spell this terrible...

Sorry! My skills are getting rusty. I thought she was 19 and posted previously on the teen board.

I still think she's a real person. Just one that can't spell!

Why is poor spelling such a buzz killer here?

I have a child that can't spell. We have given her all the extra support in the world to improve her spelling and it isn't working and won't work.

I've watched this poster over the last week and every time she posts she gets ragged at for her spelling rather than spoken to with respect over her questions/comments like others get around here.

If my child wanted to use a forum to post on her spelling would be similar to this poster and I would be over joyed if she made that leap in her social interaction life.

I suggest that those that are so bothered by this posters spelling take a breath and think for a moment what if the shoe was on the other foot.

Would you not post?

Would you use a spell checker ? ( I can't be bothered in this kind of forum & my spelling is far from perfect)

Might want to have a little respect for this person as a human being before jumping down her throat over a little issue like poor spelling.

OP - sporry for the hijack. Can't add to the people that have comments before. I agree maybe the nurse was having a bad day :confused3

I use Firefox and it automatically spell checks for me. Misspelled words are underlined in red. If one cannot be "bothered" to take a little bit of time to write something then why should I be "bothered" to take time to puzzle out what they are trying to say?

IF she is using a mobile device, I will cut her some more slack as some don't autofill words like my iPhone.

Surely you realize this poster's issues go beyond poor spelling, right?

Her posts are nearly stream-of-consciousness rambling. It's not even just that several words are spelled incorrectly. There are no punctuation marks, paragraphs, or any other indicators of organized writing.

This isn't just a typo or two. It's like the love child of Faulkner and e.e. cummings without all the literary genius.

I actually think posters have been more than tolerant and have given this person the benefit of the doubt WAY beyond what I would call generous. I personally typed out a long, information filled reply to one of her posts since I chose to take her seriously at that point.

But now, given the frequent, odd questions and that it seems more and more evident she's misrepresenting herself, I don't blame people for being incredulous, or even a little snarky.

I don't use firefox so this option is not readily availble for me. I'd have to cut and paste my posts. Frankly it's not worth that effort to me.

And I've made a comment that I think people don't look at here. So what if she spells poorly. There are worse things in life. If you can't be bothered to read thru it don't click the thread.

I have a learning disability and have great trouble with spelling. Since I'd like to post and I don't want to look like I'm a 6 year-old using my mom's account, I do use spell checker. I also feel that doing so shows respect to others.

The OP goes far beyond bad spelling - her messages have so many spelling and grammar errors that they can be difficult to even follow. As I said, to me, that shows a lack of respect to fellow posters.

A few typos and/or spelling/grammar errors are one thing; but, the OP goes far beyond that.

Again, my daughter spells just like this and she is a VERY kind and considerate person she does not use a spell checker when emailing her girl friends - this has nothing to do with having a lack of respect but more to the point of her friends rolling with who she is and not picking on her over a silly issue.

Good for you that you spell check :thumbsup2 Sadly not everyone who spell checks gets the right answer when using one.

I'm just tossing out another option for us to look at this poster thru :confused3

I'll give you that. This poster has run the course of from Xmas Carol to elder care and yes those are extreme issues.

She may well be a poser. And if she is that just stinks.

I guess this just hits a raw nerve with me because I have a child that will soon be in a world like the one I see her on the CB. I find that I'm often thinking that people are just down right mean here. I'm very thick skinned and it doesn't phase me what anyone thinks in my grand scheme of life, but my DD is a different breed all together. If she was a party to some of the comments that I've seen here towards others she would be crushed. Like I said this thread just made me over sensitive to how people inact with others and the spelling is for sure a hot button with me.

i byno means am the garmmer police but i do think these posters hav a point i do notn faul tthis poster and give benefit of dobut but her posts are difficult to read as i type i am not making fun of her but simply illustrating what happens hen proper kare is not taekn to sound at liest somewhat cogetn when trying t opst on the board.

Mocking a poster is unkind (and that was not my intent btw.) But as stated, many do have valid points that her posts are difficult to understand.

This same poster also wanted to take care of an grandmother who requires 24/7 care and that inquiry was riddled with concerns over money and mentioning of her SS check.

The fact that OP mentions she is on SSI, is a bit disturbing given the content of her other posts.

I personally wonder about this allergy. GP's can only do so much for them and often it requires going to an allergist to get specific results that are of benefit/ More info in her OP would have been beneficial. Lack of it creates doubt.

Some people really just can’t write. I have met a number of such people in my life, and I believe that true literacy just doesn’t happen for some folks. It doesn’t mean that they’re unintelligent people; their ability to write is just missing for some reason.

While I don’t think posting on a message board would be my thing if I were such a person, I don’t begrudge anyone the right to participate on a public board if that’s what they want to do. If I can figure out what they’re trying to say and want to respond, I do. If it turned out that they were just putting me on, I don’t really care either.

I'm a lousy speller. So when I see bad spelling, I cut people some slack. Also, I really don't care about grammar. But this young lady's posts are almost un-readable (is there such a word? LOL) Half the time, I have no idea what she's talking about.

I'm confused.. Why are you having blood work done for allergies? I thought you were going to the doctor because you were afraid you had H1N1?

If you feel that you're not being treated politely, maybe you could find a new doctor..:goodvibes

At the risk of sounding dumb what is SSI and why would a nurse have an attitude about it?:confused3

I believe it is Social Security Income--and I guess if one has that,it might make them eligible for Medicaid/Medicare (though I think OP is too young for the latter).

Some people will believe that they get treated 'differently' b/c they use public aid. But sometimes--people in life are just rude whether you are poor, or Bill Gates.
