Well, I took a long trip to Japan and thought I'd treat myself to a day at Disney. I didn't think Disneyland would prove any different from the rest, and I've been to all of them sans Hong Kong. But DisneySea is incredible. The detail and decor are second to none. There aren't many attractions, though I'm sure this will change in time. However, Mysterious Island alone was worth the visit. The volcano, the crater, Journey to the Center of the Earth, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, not to mention the lookout posts and platforms to get lost in -- it is breathtaking. I spent two hours going on all the rides several times (it was rainy, 5 minute standby) and then four hours examining all the nooks and crannies of this park. It's not enough for them to build as a fifth theme park in WDW, but it would be a welcome addition to the Magic Kingdom if they were to use that empty plot just north of Space Mountain and just east of Toon Town. They didn't have hot dogs, just gyoza (sausage) in steamed buns; popcorn came in apple, strawberry and coconut flavors; and the Miracosta Hotel has a central atrium more beautiful than any Disney resort I've ever seen. I know this thread has nothing to do WDW, but I thought you guys might be interested in what could be... one day... maybe.

Wow! Sounds incredible - thanks for sharing. Any chance we might get to see some pics?

I'm trying to plan a trip to DisneySea in the next year or two (family is in Japan). I've been to Tokyo Disneyland several times, and though I think the actual Magic Kingdom is better than Orlando, it lacks in atmosphere and consequently lacks in "magic" as well. Of course, that is JMO. I've heard great things about DisneySea, and look forward to seeing it.

thanks for posting this....
we were thinking of taking a quickie trip to TDL/TDS in the middle of November.....
I've been to TDL (21 years ago), but my son (18 years old) hasn't, so I thought we could do that for a week (plus a visit to Hong Kong DL since anyway we have to fly via Hong Kong to get to Japan)...
