Just got back from Disney SSR....BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Let me just say, if you are doubting making a purchase at SSR because of a few haters out there.....pay no attention! This resort is absolutely beautiful!!! The main pool area was very entertaining for the kids, community hall had great activities, the food was great, the landscaping UNBELIEVABLE (azaleas in full bloom), bus service not a problem, the rooms were very clean spacious and very nice. I could go on and on and on but I wont. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!! I had my doubts buying sight unseen, but I am very glad I did, all doubts faded upon driving thru the entrance. Oh yeah, and a 5 minute walk to downtown disney for after hours fun ( a few cocktails after a long day at the park). If BW, BC, and WL are soooooooooo much better.....I've GOT to see them. Anyway just thought I would ease the minds for a few of you.

It's good to hear that. We went by on the boat from POR in July and I just thought it was such a beautiful resort. I can't wait to stay there in the future.

I'd love to see the resort with the azaleas in bloom! We've only been in the fall so far. Are there any trees blooming there at this time of year (cherry trees or other)?

Saratoga Springs is a very attractive property. Had a relaxed feeling to it. You won't be dissapointed!

We just returned from Saratoga too and found it very nice. We do a lot of travelling and look for calm relaxing properties--especially nice after a busy day at MK or Epcot. Grounds are very pretty, pools are lovely and the units are attractive and well laid out.

My youngest son visited SSR when we were there in JUly. He absolutely loved everything about it. He keeps telling me he wants to stay there.

When we bought WLV there was a lot of negative talk about the resort also, we were a nervous wreck but now we can't seem to get up the nerve to stay anywhere else. We stayed at OKW this summer for 11 days and really didn't care for it at all. We stayed at BWV and it was okay. I just sold my BCV points we never stayed there and had to sell for various reasons.

My long point is people are exremely different you really have to take peoples opinions for what they're worth but until you experience it yourself you'll never know.

I'm coming for those 7 month ressies, don't worry SSR you are safe. How did you like the poolside food? Did you order room service? How was it staying on site? Must have been plenty of seats around the pool? Any trouble getting a seat at the bar? How were those native northeast plantings looking?

I'll take a shot, at answering that.

WDW sold SSR to people who when they bought it assumed since it was WDW they were buying something like the OTHER WDW resorts.

Well to date, that simply isn't true.

Scan this very board for a moment and read the board. Do you see any owners of VWL or BCV or BWV wait listing to get into SSR? No you don't......... and why? Now do you see SSR owners trying to get into BWL, BCV, and VWL sure you do, and I don't blame them.

I am sincerly disappointed in WDW, they have let us DVC owners down. The have built a 3 star resort and marketed it on the back of 5 star resorts.

WDW obvioulsy can't do anything about the location of SSR, heck there is only so much on-site land to build on. But Dammit, WDW needs to put the same WDW pixie dust into the SSR project that they have put into the other resorts.

IMO SSR owners are great people, i like em........... NOW WDW employeed DVC planners, let's just say, we aren't buddies.

IMO SSR was built to house people at night, and then give them bus rides in the AM to the parks.

Can you imagine the EMH at the parks in another 5 years?

Now maybe WDW has a 5th park planned, and the location will be right beside SSR? That would be great IMO. I hope they do that. Just as long as the new park isn't nicer then the ones us BWV owners will be using....

To me, it's crazy that we all now have to book vacations 11 mths in advance or we end up getting "stuck" at a resort that is not on par with what we were sold, when we bought DVC. I can't believe that I am now in a postion on Jan 1st, where I prolly should decide where i am going to eat dinner on June 29th, I should make the ADR.

WDW keeps pouring more and more people into the "system", but hasn't built an infra structure to support them, other then the HOUSING units at SSR.

I am sure if I have misstated someone's postion, they will correct me.

So about this Earls, is it really that good?

I'm only half of the Dave/B3 posters that you seem to have a problem with. It wasn't "bitter sarcasism" or "borderline nastiness" as you've stated. Well, sarcasism but not the bitter part. I'm not bitter about DVC or my buy in. It was a little humor that probably flew over the OP's head. Until you called attention to it only those on the inside probably even noticed it. Because of your post I'm starting a thread today about the SSR shortcomings and give others a place to vent. Why should we only post glowing reviews of this joke of a resort? Really the joke is on the SSR owners and I'm one of them. I'll detail this more in my thread. This was all in good fun but now you've riled up the bees nest. I take offense to the fact that there are those on these boards that think the only commnets about DVC or DVC Resorts should be good ones. Keep posting all the smiling faces and thumbs up threads. DVC will continue to short change owners with future DVC offerings. I demand more from my ownership and will continue to do so. Look for the thread because believe me it will be a popular one.
