Just got back and met the most unprepared familly

There is one problem with this approach. Some of these clueless people get upset and angry and push and shove and argue with CM's and do what they can to make it unpleasant for everyone. Their kids get kranky and start yelling and screaming while us-in-the-know are trying to enjoy a meal or a show or just trying to relax on the transportation back to the resort.

If the person is a jerk I shut up. If they are nice yet naive, I will share the knowledge (but only in small doses just so they don't become overwhelmed).

Personally, I don't plan all that much. I have made only 3 PS's total for our trip in Sept. I have no desire to have every meal planned ahead of time. I never know what I may feel like having or where I may feel like eating. A lot of it has to do with the fact that I'm going with two children, one 5 and one 13 months, I guess I feel like I'll need to play each day by ear. Do you all think I'm a freak??? LOL Even when I went in 1997 with just my dh, we didn't plan ahead because we just wanted to feel it out while there. We only made one PS too, Victoria and Albert's. We had absolutely no problem eating at any restarant we wanted without a PS. I have to say though, the question about if they SHOULD get a map cracked me up! Sounds like they may have been a little clueless. :jester:

What I always find funny is when a family is walking around loudly trying to figure out how to get to a particular attraction (heaven forbid they should ask or get a map) while that attraction is in another one of the parks (like the family I encountered in Epcot who were trying to find Space Mountain).

Why is it that everyone sounds shocked at staying in one park for a whole day? That's the way we always do it (with a little planning of course) We arrive just before park opening and leave at park closing, I find hopping wastes chunks out of a day. Still, that's just my personal experience and opinion.

This will be just our second trip, but we were there for a week last year, did one park per day for the first 4 days, then revisited the sites we wanted to see again. We had our DD2 with us, and she doesn't nap at all, so we never went back to the hotel to rest, but just took it slow and easy all day long. It worked well for us, so I totally agree with you.

I am another one that stays at one park all day long. From opening 'till closing I'm there with my mom.
We don't do that many PS either. In fact in 5 days we will be leaving to WDW and we haven't made any PS. Last time that we made all the PS we didn't even used them, we change our eating plan all the time.
I plan too but I go with the flow also.

I agree with doing Disney the first time with heart and not mind, that's how we did it our 1st visit last year, granted we did know about Fastpass and yes we sure grabbed a park map for every park we went to, but had no PS whatsoever, and it worked out just fine. We made a PS for Garden Grill after we got to CBR, I think the 3rd day, but other then that, it was day by day, we did what we felt like doing.

We got to ride in front of the monorail by just being late, we went to the pool every night with sore feet and just had a marvellous time. It was relaxing and we had a lot of fun.

Now in saying that, this time though will be totally different, going back the 2nd time, there are things we absolutley have to do and other things we won't care as much for.

It's up to the visitor imho, and if I heard anything like "why are they getting ahead in line" etc, I would have told them how it works.

I found this board not long ago and it has helped me alot in planning for this trip coming up. I did try to get PS for CRT last year and never got one for the week we were there, this year I got one!!:Pinkbounc

Just my 2cents on the matter, I can't wait to go back!!!!!:)

My deskmate is going to WDW with her kids Labor Day weekend. My family and I will be there from 8/2 thru 8/9. I offered to help her make her PS for CRT--her dd really wants to dine with Cinderella. I explained to her that CRT is THE HARDEST ps to get and that I would help her. She politely declined stating that she wasn't ready to start planning for the trip as she had a lot of other things going on. I gave her a guidebook to read--she hasn't cracked the book yet!

My trip plans have been worked and reworked several times but all of my reservations for character meals, car, air, tickets, hotel, etc are set The only thing that she has locked in are the hotel reservations (thanks to my suggestion) and the plane tickets. They have no idea about park hours, shows, or parades. She hasn't even started.

I do not overplan, but I do have a general idea about what I'm going to do each day. I wonder whose family will have the better time?!
