Hey all

Just got back from FL - went for a week.

I'm now looking at August for 3 weeks, and have seen that indirect flights can be quite a saving (reading on here).

i've had a search from 1st Aug 2011 to 22 Aug 2011 and the cheapest I can find is £780pp for a 1 stop flight.

Used all the common websites, just wondering if anyone can see if I can get it cheaper (Seen Wayne mention £380pp before!!)

Don't mind having 1 change, 2 is a bit much though, hopefully ya'll can help and make me return to the sunshine state :D.

thanks

Finding flights at the right price is all about patience and luck. You would have to start looking as soon as they are released and search multiple times a day until you are happy with a price.
The £380 flights for this August were available 4th March and only for a few hours. No-one knows when(or if) a deal like that will appear. Year before last we got Business class for £470pp which was an even better deal.

Sites to check are Kayak.co.uk, travelsupermarket.com plus any others you have time to search. Good luck finding something.

thanks for your reply wayne.

I'll continue to look daily, even hourly lol.

Thanks for the websites - just want to confirm that I dont have to type in a preferred airport to change at? I noticed alot of the cheaper deals (after reading) were to Chicago or was that just unselected and what popped up?

Thanks

EDIT:

you also mention after they are released.... what do you mean? Any calendar with the dates that certain flights are released?? thanks

You don't do anything regarding airport change, just let it show you the cheapest options, just check you are not sat in an airport for 20 hours. You really want to be looking at 2-4 hours max although I have taken longer ones at the right price before.
Flights are available to book 11 months from your return date for example if you look on http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/index.jsp and go to the latest date you can return today it will show you 20/05/12
There are exceptions to this, BA are one company that allow you to book a little earlier than others, maybe others.

Thanks a lot Wanye much appriciated.

Just wondering also if you know a good website to rent a villa for about 3-4 weeks in Orlando area... any reccomendations on a good area?

thx

Sorry can't help with villas, stayed in a Condo once and been in a villa, not our sort of holiday, prefer hotel. Maybe use the search facility for past threads.

Vrbo.com is a very good start for villas, however, there are loads of owners sites.

Hi,

Can I ask why you want to go in August? Is there another month you could travel? August will have a fair amount of rain with heavy crowds.

Hi,

The rain varies from one year to the next, last couple of Augusts we have hardly seen any at all, just the odd downpour. Certainly had a lot more in October & May, worst we have seen was probably end of July.
Crowds can be busy some days but nothing like Xmas or Easter, its not mega busy crowds as the Americans start going back to school early to mid August.

For us only time we can go for 3-4 weeks is August, although it can be a little hot for some its a month we enjoy going, never come across anything to deter us going.

Well I was just thinking that if he doesn't have to go in August it could greatly reduce his costs.

What is your idea of a good area? Close to Disney, gated community, close to local ammenities? What is good for one won't be good for another so it would help if you narrowed it down a little.
Personally we have stayed on 3 different communities on the H27 and they have been good. There is a shopping complex that has a Publix, take aways and restaurants but it is further away from the parks.
We have also stayed on Emerald Isle which is about 10 minutes from Animal Kingdom and Ponciana Blvd, which is about 10 minutes away from DTD - both at opposite ends of the 192. They all have their positive and negative points
Favourite sites for us to search for villas are:

Totally agree with you, if at all possible for costs avoid August its just for crowds and weather we find OK. Saying that we have always stuck to school hols so August is one of the best holidays to go, I am sure there are far better times off peak.

I have also stayed in the Ponciana Boulevard area and can recommend it for its closeness to some of the main attractions other than the theme parks. 192 is good for getting away from the usual things that you associate with a Florida holiday. Walmarts is on the route to or from the parks and it is closer to Universal than some of the other communities.
And there is a Krispy Kreme at the junction of PB and 192. What more could you want :goodvibes
