Just freaked out and bought our tix

for much more than I wanted to pay, but prices seemed to be doubling!!! $235 pp out of XNA (Northwest Arkansas) on American.

I have always flown out of MCI (Kansas City) but it is a four hour drive... XNA is a bit over an hour. Plus for the days I wanted to fly MCI was higher than XNA!

In the past we have paid.... $131, $71.50 and $98 including all taxes and fees.

I hope I don't regret this.......

And this morning they are back to the regular price... or at least the same price they have been for the last couple of weeks... oh well.......

Do you mean that you bought the tickets at a higher price and they are lower now? Call the airline. Many times they will "refund" the difference in travel vouchers.

No Orbitz still had them @ $235.00.
Hotwire was almost $500
Travelocity was $528 ish
American was $500+

So I have done okay, I was just hoping for a better rate.

When are you going? Sounds like we're watching the same flights. We've always flown KC but are thinking about XNA because it is closer. What's it like, ever used it before? What airline did you use?

We are going Oct 18 to 27. We have never flown out of XNA before so this will be new for us. We started flying out of KC because we could get a non stop flight and had never flown before.... we were worried about lost luggage, making connections, etc.

We are flying AA.

We live in Carroll County, about 20 miles from Eureka Springs. Where are you from?

Definitely keep watching and if a special comes out call AA and ask about getting the discounted price. A few years ago, I did the same thing (panicked cuz I thought is was only going to get worse) and bought tickets thru a travel agent. A few weeks later a fare about $30 cheaper came out. The travel agent couldn't do anything, but I called the airline directly (Delta) and they said IF I went to the airport and the discounted fares were still available for those exact flights when I was standing at the ticket counter, they would reissue the tickets and give me a $30 credit voucher. Which, I did and they did and the next trip I was able to apply to credit voucher.

We're in Dade Co, MO. The non-stop thing was the reason we also went to KC. SGF is the closest but always more, even than XNA. If we have to drive 4 hours, will probably go to STL for the nonstop AA. We're going in Dec. This weekend things dropped to $255, but that's till too high. Am going to wait it out. Be sure and post about XNA when you get back. It's getting more tempting!

My boss said he has flown out of XNA and it was nice. Plus Springfield is at least $100.00 higher and the driving distance is about 70 miles either way for us, so xna it is!
