Just bought into the DVC

Thanks! I so hope it is as great as everyone states. For now I have booked the week of Thanksgiving in a standard view Studio.

Welcome home! I'm a relatively new owner myself (bought in September 2009). Can't wait to get home.

I just joined in September too! Kidani! I loved it. Have been for two weekend trips so far. I don't think i'll ever want to stay in a value resort again. I'm spoiled

Thanks all! I am hearing so many refer to their DVC as home. :) Did everyone love Disney before they bought or did some of you come to love it more afterwards?

For me it is a great place but I've only been twice and haven't had a chance to really get to love it yet. :)

We bought back into DVC after selling our Saratoga contract last year. We originally wanted to add on to our Saratoga with BLT points but the economy and job uncertainty dictated our sale. We took the BLT tour last August and fell in love with it and my wife is a huge MK fan so it just seemed natural to buy back in with BLT as our home resort. Being close to MK and the monorail is a huge plus for us. Also it will be easier to go back and stay at SSR with our BLT pts without paying the higher dues.

DVC does have a way of spoiling you. Once you stay in a deluxe DVC you don't want to stay in another hotel. We were staying at the CR and bought back into DVC and changed our accomadations while on the phone with our guide. We have stayed offsite 2 times. Once in '04 when we didn't know any better and once last year when we sold our SSR contract. We really liked the '04 trip and last year was alright but there is something about staying on property that gives that extra magic.

We will never sell again.

I so hope so. Last year we went in Sept. and stayed at the Poly. The vacation was very expensive. Our DDs first trip and our first try at a vacation following my husband becoming a paraplegic.

Our experience was horrible. Our room did not have a tub as my husband needed, they did not supply the bedside potty as we had requested via our TA and special needs dept. Our room had a water leak and thus a pocket of mold between the bath door and the rest of the room. I called repeatedly to get moved and to get a potty with no results. The park was supposedly to be virtually empty according to the predictor websites instead the Poly was sold out and we hit the Epcot Wine event.

DH doesn't really want to go but it is only place we know where he can do events with DD who is 4.

I've grown up Disney. My parents loved it and My addiction may be worse than theirs! I bought in because it is a place I always come back to no matter where else I go. Disney is home.

You can take the monorail to MK from CR, but you travel all of the way around to the other monorail resorts before you get to MK. On the return from MK to CR (BLT) you can take the resort monorail and it's the first stop.

It's real easy to get around BLT with a wheel chair, all of the hallways are wide. Just make sure you request a handicap room with a roll in shower (if that's what you want). The bed will be lower. The room is supposed to allow the movement of a wheelchair as well. They also have handicap rooms that do not have a roll in shower if you prefer. The smaller slide at BLT is listed as an ADA approved slide. Don't know if your DH would be interested in it or could even use it. I know young children love it.

As a family you can easily go up to the TOTW Lounge for fireworks viewing. However, if you prefer no crowds and if you don't have an MK view, you can see the fireworks from the elevator lobbies. I'd pick one above the 7th floor or the 15th floor would even be better (to see over the monorail easily) and use the north elevators. They have a more direct view of the the castle and the fireworks.

The parks should be less busy after New Years than either Thanksgiving week or Christmas week. However, NYE is very crowded. Maybe more so that the other two holidays.
