Do you need to put a virus protector on it? if so what's the best for a budget price?

I thought I saw a link on here before for a facebook page that listed free downloads each day. Anyone know of any good places to get those?

What games did you find for free or low cost that you love?

Anything else I need to know?

You can go to the Amazon app store right on the Fire and check the free app for each day. Haven't thought about anti- virus yet but that may not be a bad idea.

I follow pixel of ink on Facebook. They list several free books everyday!

I don't think it need an anti-virus does it?

My favorite games are Reversi, Jewels, Bubble Buster and Free Cell.

Favorite Apps: Accuweather, HuluPlus, IMDb, Flixter and ESPN.

I have a buttload of apps but those are the only ones I use regularly.

Google kindle fire department blog. She lists all the apps of the day that are free. But you can also check it yourself by just going to the app store every day. It is at the top of the page.

A good tip is if you aren't already, become a member of Amazon Prime. That gives you free streaming of movies and tv shows and one free book rental per month.

You are also going to need to buy your own USB cable if you want to be able to hook your kindle up to the computer to put movies, pictures or music on it. I would post a link to the one I bought off Amazon but I am on my phone. It's a USB to mini USB cable.

You only get 5 gb of cloud storage but if you ever need more you can pay one dollar per gb per year for extra cloud storage. The cloud holds a lot of your data so it doesn't fill up your device.

Even though it only has 6 gb of open usable space when you get it, you can put a lot of crap on there. My DD has probably a hundred stupid little apps on hers. She is obsessed with the daily free app even if it is dumb or useless.

You can delete anything off your device. On your carousel just touch the item and hold it for a few seconds and it gives you the option to delete it.

thanks for the replies! I've already downloaded several apps and games and a few free books!

re: the cloud storage, how does that work? How do you put things in your cloud?

How do you put movies on it? I have a couple of digital copies that I got with DVD purchase, I've usually viewed them on my I-touch, but the large screen on the Fire would be nicer.

I am highly considering getting the Kindle Fire. I have the original Nook, and was wondering if anyone knows if the Fire is any heavier. I love to read in bed. We have an iPad, but I don't like reading in bed on that.

Also, what are magazine prices like for the Kindle Fire?

I don't know if it is every WalMart, but they are having a special where you get a $50 Gift Card when you purchase a Kindle Fire ($199). Bought mine today and used the $50 to buy a case. I've already added apps, books and watched a couple of television shows...loving it so far!

I bought mine today too!!! Loved that offer. I've been busy downloading stuff for me and the kids for our upcoming trip! Although, I spent my gift card on paper products for the home. Love the month of free Amazon prime. So my case will come from them.

Thanks for the usb to mini usb tip! I put it in my cart awhile....

So do you geta free month of prime even if you bought at walmart? Is it automatically started or do you have to do something?

My KF came with an antivirus installed - at least I think it did because I did not download it :confused3 DH went to download an antivirus and noticed it already had one. It just says Antivirus Free and has the little green Android (the funny little robot). The one DH downloaded is Dr Web Antivirus - both are free.

If you want to dowload movies this is a great (and easy) tutorial.

Most of the apps I have are from the daily freebie Amazon offers :thumbsup2 Other than those I have Random MahJong, Greedy Spiders and Angry Birds - ok I think those are the only ones I have that are always free.

One thing I would suggest is putting a password for your KF. If it gets stolen they will have a harder time getting in and it will give you time to contact Amazon so they can deactivate it pirate:
