That many of you will NOT book with Alamo.. is there a reason? From your experience should I cancel with them? I just got a Full size for $113.99 with taxes and fees it was $152. Can I do better than with another carrier or a little more but less stress?
I have time to rebook with someone else if needed.
Opinions please.

I rented from Alamo from 9/10 to 9/15 - right after Francis and as Ivan was brewing. I had none of the issues that people faced later in the month regarding car availability. I picked up the car at 11 pm on Friday the 10th and the mid-size aisle had about 25 cars available. Most were Chevrolet Malibu Classics, one was a Mitsubishi Lancer, and one was a mid-size Dodge. The National aisles had the same amount of cars.

I think the whole issue was availability of cars over a holiday weekend after another hurricane caused a lot of one way rentals taking cars out of state. I'd call the local airport office to ask them specifically where they are at with available cars and how many times had they run out on peak days.

I rented from Alamo last Thanksgiving and had no problems. There was a slight wait at the counter but after signing the papers I was on my way across the street to pick out my car. Returning it was even easier. Just pull up and hop out.

If I could find a decent rate I'd go with them again.

I'm looking to book a rental car, and my DBF prefers Alamo for some reason. Can I ask - where you got that great price?

Thanks for the information Mousy!!!
Can you tell me what the Contract ID# 802372 is? What company, if any; does it represent? I know I'll need a coupon for the Entertainment Book.
Thank you again!!

I got it off mousesavers.

The Orlando Magicard offers Rate Code BY and ID# 802372 for up to 15% off. Source is the Orlando Magicard, a tourism promotion that is available to anyone, but it's a good idea to request the card, which will take several weeks (or months) to arrive. That's a "just in case" thing, because the offer states that you must show the card when you pick up your car, but in reality no one has reported being asked for the card. Expires 2/28/05. Thanks to Matthew R for info.

Glad to help!

That's excellent Mousy!!! I have the Magic Card.
Thank you very much!!!

Do you think I will beat the rate of $113.99 base rate per week.. my DH has his heart set on picking out his own car at National, but this seems to be a great rate for a full size.

BTW what kind of cars is a Full size at Alamo?

Thanks!
Kathleen

I love National and have used them twice. I've never seen a rate that low for National though. Since I haven't rented anywhere else, I don't know the sizes of the cars at Alamo.
But; I know someone here will and they'll let us know! ::yes::

I booked with Alamo(finally)

Got a rate of 114.95 for an Olds Alero (which I think is full size).

What's the "Entertainment Book", and where can they be found?

Thanks,
Mark

Entertainment book is a book of Coupons that you buy
You can also get a subscription for 3.99 a month which is what I am doing, I will print the coupon off before I go and then cancel it when I get back. I bought one last year and did not use hardly any of the coupons.
Here is a link to the one I used.
