Just booked today through AAA - have a question

I just booked our January trip today through AAA. I did so with the understanding that I was paying rack rates, and the AAA discount would be applied when Disney announces the package deals later this summer. My rate for POFQ was $161 per night, tax included. This is in line with what I have seen as the 2007 rates. My total was $973.53 for 6 nights with a standard room.

When my AAA agent got back to me after booking with Disney, she told me that Disney said this WAS the AAA discount. This can't be right, can it!?!

Well, it depends...does this include tax? I have rates for January listed as follows: $145 (standard), $160 (water view). If it doesn't include tax, then no, but if the amount you've been quoted includes tax it could be (the AAA discount is 10 - 15%, then the tax is 11.5%. Still, as far as I know AAA discounts are not out yet. Typically during value season (January) the AAA discounts ahve been more like 15% though.

That is definately the rack rate. I just booked my trip this morning and confirmed with my agent and the booking agent that the AAA rates are not yet posted. Check back near the end of Aug when the discounts are posted to get your final price.

Does anyone know when AAA will have its' 2007 package booklets out and ready to go? I want to book our annual trip (and they want us to book early) but I am waiting for the booklets. Also when do the 2007 giude books hit the book shelves? Thank you!

I wish AAA would start reading these boards.... It might occur to them that the failure of their agents to have a CLUE is driving some of us away from them for ALL travel.... I figure if they can't do Disney where they have a relationship and a LOT of travel bookings, I would be TERRIFIED to give them something complicated!

I was very blessed to have a very informative and effective agent. I did not have to contact her and she automatically updated all discounts to my package as they became available.

I was also very impressed that during a visit to typhoon lagoon I had a horrble situation happen and Disney was dragging their feet. I was frightened by their lack of action, out of frustration, I contacted my AAA TA. The speed and effectiveness of their involvment, was truly impressive. My AAA TA has my families travel for life!

I have been waiting for these too. Here is what Amazon says:

Unofficial Guide - due out August 21st
Birnbaum's - due out October 1st
Passporter - November 28th
Frommer's - August 21st
Fodor's - Oct 3rd, but WDW with Kids due out August 1st
