Just booked the Courtyard $49. deal...tell me about it

I just called and booked the Courtyard DTD $49. deal for Jan.1 - Jan.6. I've never made such a snap decision in my life! I know the cancellation policy is 48 hours, so I feel pretty safe, but I haven't stayed off site since 1974! DH and I are taking a long weekend trip in November, so the January trip (DD really wants to go) has to be a cheapie. Please tell me about this hotel....I'm working my way thru the Best/Worst thread, but so far it has been mentioned only once. What are the rooms like? The grounds? How far to walk to DTD? Bus transportation? Help!

You'll love the location of this hotel. We really enjoyed the walk to Downtown Disney. The employees are super. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

We stayed here at the end of Sept at the $20.03 rate. When I asked if we had a tower room, she replied "Not at that rate" in a rude manner. I informed her that I knew that we were not the only ones who got that rate, and that others had been getting a tower room with a DTD view, but didn't argue any further. She was very rude..........not a smile at all.

When we got to the room, it was the worst view in the hotel. There are 2 rooms on each of the wing floors that face the parking lot and a few trees. I immediately called the manager and she told me that noone ever gets a tower room for that rate. I told her that when we booked the room that they told us we would have a tower room, but they couldn't guarantee the view. We had a lengthy conversation and she changed her mind and stated that they used to but that the special was going over so well that they had to start putting all people that got that rate in the wing rooms. I informed her that would be fine, but that I really wanted at least a pool view. She moved us to the 12th floor immediately with no problem.

I will say that after the initial rudeness, the rest of the time we were treated very well. The hotel was clean and very nice. Bus service was good........ran almost every 20 - 30 minutes to each park.

We stayed there in May (free stay with rewards points) and Sept. (20.03 rate). We were never made to feel inferier because of the price we were paying. No one ever commented on it. We didn't make any room request though - we were only there a few nights each time and didn't care what the view was. We were never in the room except to sleep. We did have views of I-4 though and if we had been staying longer that might have bothered me. We would be staying there next week if we could have gotten another great rate but for this trip it was cheaper to stay at the all-stars.

Being able to walk to Downtown Disney is a big plus for me!!

Here's the scope. You need to book at least one day at least to include Sunday thru Thursday. So, as a minimum to have a weekend included you would need to include a Thursday or a Sunday.

The dates for the rate are Nov.12 thru Feb. 1, 2004. The discount code is RPGG. You will get $49 night including the weekend but you book as described above. The number to call for the deal is 1-800-223-9930. You must book by Oct.22, 2003.

For annual pass holders, you are still better off with the discount code available for All-Star or Pop-Century which I believe is $55 and $49/night accordingly.

I have stayed there on Cheapo deals several times. I find it to be a good basic hotel.
My last room was not a tower room and I actually liked it better then the tower room. It opened on to the pool area and seemed bigger.

thanks for all the input! The location is what really swayed me to book. View really is not a big consideration for me on this trip; $$ has to be my prime concern. I am keeping my eyes open for AP rates, but they are not out for next year yet (are they?), and there is no guarantee that they will be available for those first few days of the year. I stayed last January at AKL on an AP rate...now there I really did care about view! If a great AP deal turns up; well that would be a different story!
