After eleven 2,000 mile round trip drives for WDW, DH and I decided we had enough and I would conquer my fear of flying. I booked our first flight today.
I am still nervous but I figure my odds are good that everything will be fine and I will get to WDW in 2.5 hours instead of 18.

I booked with ME too and now I just have to verify I have all the rules for what I can pack and what I carry on with me.

Congratulations! I used to be too afraid to fly, then I decided that I needed to get over that so we could travel. We live 1800 miles from WDW, so I am glad I did!

You'll be fine, I am still always a bit nervous, but since I got over my fear (didn't fly at all for over 10 years) I have flown around 40 times. I love the freedom it gives me.

I also take a couple of benadryl about an hour before take off so I can feel a bit more relaxed and take a nap! A portable DVD player or Ipod/MP3 is also nice to help you pass the time. I even have special "flying" music I listen to on my Ipod. Its soothing and helps me relax.

You'll be fine. :cool1::cool1::cool1:
Nobody in the world hates to fly more than me and my wife. Flying doesn't bother my daughter. :hippie::hippie::hippie:
We've drive to WDW from Boston twice and flown to WDW 5 times going on 6times. :wizard::wizard::wizard:
I'd rather bite the bullet and fly, as long as the fares and flight times are reasonable and decent. :teacher::teacher::teacher:
You'll be fine. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
Good luck all,
Joe

Thanks for the encouraging words! :)
I will absolutely take my Ipod with my Disney music playlist on it.
I have Xanax and will talk to my Dr. next week as to whether or not I should up my dosage for the flight or try something else.

Thanks so much for the pep talk! :goodvibes

I suspect after you fly down you'll never want to drive again! :)
I'd never want to drive unless I was going down for several weeks.

Good for you. You'll be fine!

You'll do great. I guess I'm in the minority here - I love to fly and spend a lot of my time looking out the window and taking pictures (DH is nice and lets me have the window seat).

That's me too, but DS12 always wants the window seat and DW is between so I get the aisle. I love the window seat.

Congrats! I had flown before, but once I had kids the fear took over! I almost fainted in the airport holding my son and had to give him to a stranger for fear of dropping him while my DH was in the restroom! Luckily I chose a nice one who helped get me to a chair and sat with me till DH came back!

The next year we had our flights booked and I made my DH fly back from Orlando to catch the flight back (the same day!) to Disney! Two days before I called him in Florida and told him to stay, that I would drive the kids there! LOL!

My neighbor suggested I get Xanax and I have flown just fine.. but I have to take it when we are driving to the airport!

Hey, I worry more about driving to the airport than flying.:rotfl: I do love to fly as it gets me there quicker. Since I usually take an early morning flight, I tend to doze most of the way.

Just relax and enjoy your flight.

Good on you. I found that traveling music can really help too. What I used to do was play some of the tracks only when I was feeling happy and relaxed. Then I would play these songs when flying. If yo want some songs about travel, there are plenty on the web. One place I found was musicfortravel.com Not a bad place to start and Google has a plenty more. Good luck and safe travels.

I can't seem to make the link work.
