Based on what I read on another thread, I just called MagicTransportation and spoke with Tony. He gave me a price of $80 R/T to Portofino Bay Hotel. He asked where I heard about them and I told them on a "Disney chat room". he said "Oh. Disboards? I'll give you a $5 discount". Much better then the $95 R/T price from FL Tours, and sounds like the service will be the same or better. Grocery stop included. Thanks you guys. :goodvibes

Their rates seem reasonable.Good comments about them on boards but we are still going to reserve our next trip with Fla. Tours! :sunny:

Nice to have a towncar company offering a roundtrip with a luxury vehicle for a lot less than a taxi... I just wonder how they can manage that. :earseek:
Desperate times brings desperate measures I guess... :confused3

DaisyMom - thanks for the website! the prices do look good. I will talk to my group this weekend and see what they want to do. Since we are staying at the Dolphin at the beginning of the trip we will need a ride there, but can use ME for our trip back from PC.

Thanks again! Nancy :earsgirl:

Gas, insurance, airport fees, competition with a free service, competition with companies that are slashing prices to try and stay in business....

I wonder how many towncar companies are going to be going out of business or at least have to "downsize".

When I was looking at pricing for Town Cars, trips to Universal were cheaper across the board than trips to Disney. Perhaps it is closer to the airport? I was a bit oblivious to this whole ME thing and just happened to call Magic Transportation yesterday. I was pleased they offered a $5 discount because I read about them on here. They also offered the same discount for my June (business) trip when I have to go to the Marriot World Center. I am waiting to touch base with my coworkers regarding transportation before booking the Town Car for the June trip.

Exactly my point... :) Unfortunately many will dissapear soon. Sad but true! :sad2:

But one thing is for sure. The ones that survive now can not sell their hard work for peanuts. Those that believe it is the only way to stay in business are sadly mistaken. They will be the next wave of companies going out of business for lack of $ to pay their bills. You can run a while with very low prices, but in the long run, when the big bills come (yearly commercial insurances, permits and etc...) those companies will simply bankrupt.
Above all, it is impossible to have a good service, good (and happy) drivers, new vehicles, all the permits and insurances, with such a low rate. Soon, if not already, they will offer people looking only for low rates, a bad service. That's a fact... ;)
