We just booked HHI this morning for June 21 - June 25, 2009!! We rented points from a fellow DVC member whose home resort is HHI and it worked perfectly. This summer isn't even over but I am alread looking forward to next summer!

We booked a 2 bedroom for June 21-25th today also. I'll be there with DH and DD and her friend and my parents.

Just got back yesterday from another great trip (again!!) -- our 13th summer at DVC HHI. Almost always go in July and love the 4th of July week -- so I'm not too far from getting ready to book next year's.

Create this website tonight from pictures I have taken on my most recent visits. Give it a try and let me know what you think. I really just wanted a place to post pictures so I didn't give a lot of thought to the comments on the pages. I'll work on that over time I guess.

Hooray I got my GV for the week of June 21st!!!! I'm super excited. I panicked this morning when I realized I should have called yesterday for the 11 months out date!! For some reason I had it in my head that the Sunday of that week was the 22nd!! I was thrilled when MS told me a GV was available.

I just added our final two nights (Fri and Sat, checking out June 28) on member cash, so out 7 night stay is completely booked!!

As others have said, the rates are not out yet but the booking is allowed.

In the summer months, I think it is close to impossible to book a room at the seven month mark. While I've never tried, my impression from reading the boards is that the rest of the year it is easier to bok at seven months. It is quite a small resort (just over 100 units) which makes the peak months so difficult. We don't own at HHI - our first year we rented points from HHI owners and so were able to use the 11 month window. We also just did this for 2009. For this year we couldn't find anyone to rent from, so we reserved on member cash and then waitlisted in order to convert our cash days to points. Ultimately three of our six days converted to points. Renting from a member is by far the better option - it is less expensive than using member cash and allows you to use the 11 month window.

There is a lot for kids to do. Ours are 6 and 3 and they had a blast - think of summer camp, with all the swimming and activities, and that is close to what HHI feels like. There is so much to do at the resort, the beach is real close and easy to access, two pools, lots and lots of kids activities. And that is just the resort - leaving the resort and exploring the island is a lot of fun as well.

Yes, that is why we added on at HHI in 2002 to get the 11 month window for June, July and August. We had been at xmas 3 times and once in April with no problem, but when we tried to go in June, we had nothing at 7 months. It is easier to get a 2 bedroom because there are more of them and easier to get friday or saturday night because the nighty points for these in the summer are HUGE. It is also possible to get a cash reservation. Even after we added on we changed our minds one January and tried to get 3 nights (any sun-thurs) for June or July. We had a great CM at MS who looked at each week by week and finally found 3 nights in August 13, 14 & 15 so we took it. We were very lucky and the even the weather was in our favor with lower humidity and 80+ everyday...much better than the extreme humidity of SC in August. If you are flexible with dates and are able to go with 2 bedroom, there is a chance, but not a huge one. We just made our June 9-12,2009 reservations on July 10! Can't wait to relax at the pool/beach!
