Just booked December 08 at the Fort

Well, after everybody saying they are having so much trouble for November and December of 08, I decided to bite the bullet and book.

Yipes!! I did get my 13 nights in a partial hookup, (December 6th - 19th) but no AAA available (would have been 14 nights, but Friday night, December 19th starts Holiday season. No way, no how, I'm spending $89 + tax for a partial hookup site!!!). Rack rate and the increased weekend nights hurt!!

I'm still convinced they haven't released everything yet. I have NEVER had any trouble getting my nights at AAA rate when calling in Jan or Feb for December. With the changed rate plans, I figured some people would be bailing on the Fort.

I'm not going to call every day just yet, but I am going to call about once a month through February, then weekly, etc. If I can't get AAA, at least Passholder rates will be less than rack!! (if even offered).

Personally, I think some of the problems stem from the dates people are asking for and maybe some inflexability on their part. I get the feeling alot of posts where people say the fort is booked and nothing is available stems from that individual not being able to get the exact dates they wanted. I have gone online and checked availability when people say there is nothing and have found an abundance of sites - you just have to adjust your arrival and/or departure dates sometimes.

Well, I am proud to say I got another night in today. We are trying for Dec. 13-20 '08 and now have 13-17 booked but it wasn't easy. My in-law saw availability on the computer, I called, told nothing available (DR did chk because I explained it was avail. online). We (in-law) spoke again, I got through to the website on the computer, she couldn't. I was making my res online, she is on the phone w/DR, they got her in one night but couldn't get mine (we are under Grand Gathering) so I hit CONFIRM. Like others have said the DR's see what we see and it wasn't easy getting online because it was busy at times today. But I am happy and I will continue my quest for 3 more days and still looking for those preferred sites, still in full.

Ft. Wilderness Guy, I agree with some days being harder and need for flexibility but can't be very flexible when you have kids in school. I have a 4 and 11yr old (well 12yrs tomorrow) and it isn't easy w/school on the oldest. When he wasn't in grade school yet, we were at Disney every year in October from the time he was 2 and went on Disney cruise (Wonder) in April the year (2001) that he was starting school because we knew it was going to be harder on us traveling and limited on when we could go.

There has never been a problem with availability on the partial hook-up sites. They are pretty much available for any dates you wish. It's the full and preferred that are impossible to get.

ftwildernessguy, I'm trying to get anything from December 19 on through January 16 so I'm not being pickey on any specific date. When I called this morning, the only date that was available was one night on December 23. I have been calling everyday for weeks and trying the on-line site as well, and there has been no availability on full or preferred for that period of time.

Let's hope they open these dates up soon so I can get my trip booked.

I've also been trying to book next December. I'm open for ANY 12 nights (Sun thru Friday is what I've been checking to avoid 2 weekends) or any 8 nights starting the Sunday after T'giving... and finding nada available for our TT.. I have seen some Tent/Pop-Up sites avail, but we need anything from PArtial to Preferred (with prefered desired, of course!).... I thought that by trying Sun to Friday we would stand a better chance, but no luck! Gonna keep trying....
