Just booked Cypress Pointe

No, just the Cypress pointe - the Grande Villa are newer and don't need that work done yet.

A nitpick I know but actually CPGV DOES need the roof work they just haven't the money to pay for it yet. The problems weren't age related or simply leaks/loose tiles but a fundamental error in design and installation. CPGV has decided to go with rather pricey repairs to buy a few years before biting the bullet and doing it right. If the design/install was done correctly those original cement tile roofs would have had a 25-35 year minimum life. They barely lasted 12. For now there won't be any roof replacements at CPGV for at least two years if the repairs hold. Cypress Pointe should have all their roofs completely replaced by early 2007 and, barring any disasters, not need to touch them again until 2030 or later. The upfront cost is greater but so is the payback.

We were there in mid-October and didn't notice any construction activity. It must have started after.

I think it started in Sept.

See how wonderful CP is - during construction and their guest don't even notice it!!!

I know Cypress Pointe is great as I've stayed there myself, but I'm still wondering about booking through Alpha Rooms. When I search for reviews on them, the comments are not so good. :worried: But the comments seem to involve being booked at bad places/locations, which I'm not really concerned about since I know Cypress Pointe. Also bad comments about their cancellation policy (lose 20% & up depending on when cancelled), but I don't really have a problem about this since I know about it up front (and can't imagine someone booking without checking into this first!). I'd sure like to hear from someone who has used them though.

The lower price sounds great, but I don't want to get burned and find I don't have a room for some reason!

We`ve booked thru them and not for one minute have I thought that I might not get a room. I don`t think their cancellation poliy is much different to a normal travel agent. (may be I`m missing something but 20% upto 30 days before you go then it increases nearer to your date, travel companies/agents are more than that I`m sure)

I must admit I havn`t looked into all Alph Rooms reviews. Gone and done it now so will have to hope for the best.

Question: Did alpha rooms take requests on certain types of accomodation needs. (ie. upper floor, etc)

What am I missing? I can't find CP when I go through Alpharooms. What destination/place of interest should I use?

OP---CP is fabulous, and for the price you paid an absolute STEAL!!! Good for you!!!

go to the map - pick - north america - then florida - then orlando - finally when it ask you to eliminiate some - pick LBV.

Its too bad that their price increases over peak season (ie. Christmas 2007) , but for those who can travel during off-peak times, the price is fabulous!!!

I just pulled up CP for our planned trip next year, and they have a pretty incredible price. 85 a day for a 3 bedroom. I was, um, stunned. I am going to confirm my dates and book asap before it changes.

Has anyone in the U.S. used this company before, I agree that they are offering a great price. But I have only been able to find a few reviews on alpharooms and all of them were negative. I'm all for a good deal, but I'm not sure if the risk is worth it? I don't believe that you get a confirmation with the hotel/condo until a few days prior to arrival. I emailed Alpharooms and they said no problem with U.S. citizen booking through them. Any experience using them?

Ok, read that but thats only the view of 2 people.

If you book a holiday thru a travel agent and cancel within xxx days you loose money, can`t see that they are any different! Also you are getting the rooms a lot cheaper than a travel agent so sometimes a little gamble is needed. I booked out Virgin flights thru Opodo got them quite a bit cheaper than Virgin, had to pay for them there and then and they offer no refund. I suppose if you want security then book thru a travel agent.

I will e`mail Cypress Pointe anyway before I go as I have a room request I would like to make.

I seem to be on my `soap box` at the moment, but surely they must book hundreds of `rooms` each week. When I was considering using them I did ask the question as to if anyone had used them and only good comments came back.

Feel better now I`ve said all that. xx

I wasn't trying to scare anyone who has made plans already. Hope it didn't come across that way. I was hoping to hear some positive comments about this site. I agree cancellation of a trip is about the same wherever you go.
But showing up and not having a room is unacceptable. I very much want to book this rate for June '07, but before we do we want to feel comfortable using Alpharooms.
