Just booked a trip for August: what if free dining becomes available later?

Hi everyone,

My parents actually just booked a trip for August (yay for me being a teacher - I get to come too!) and my mom forgot to ask them about the possibility of free dining. They have two weeks to pay the deposit..... my question is if free dining does become available for that week (August 12-17) will we be able to take advantage even if we are already booked? Or should we take off the DDP option for now and then add it on if/when it becomes available?

yes - if it becomes available you can apply it toward your package, and they will either credit your account (so when you check in, it can be put onto your room card) or send you a refund check

If you have a discounted rate, you may need to switch to a different package to qualify for free dining. If that is the case, they'll make it pretty painless for you (as long as you had originally booked your reservation with Disney directly, or AAA directly assuming you're aiming for a AAA free dining offer). It should be noted that it may end up being less expensive paying for dining than getting it for free, depending on the rate you have and the rate you'd have to change to. That's most likely the case with folks currently booked at deluxe resorts with a nice discount.

Thanks! I guess we'll just wait and see if anything comes up. My parents are also looking into joining AAA for possible discounts.

I'm very spoiled in that I'm heading to Disney in two weeks (ahh!!) for my belated honeymoon and I'm soooo excited that I may be back there again so soon! Too bad my husband won't be able to come.... but there are advantages to teaching

If you resort is available for the promotion and if your DATEs are within the allowed dates. FYI--the UK folks plan starts on Aug. 12, while Bounce back starts Aug. 5. If it's released no one is sure what the dates will be. I guess it all depends on the timeframe of resort capacity. I'm holding a reservation starting Aug. 15th, so am hoping I'm within the timeframe. Hopefully we'll know soon.

I would think the dates would correspond with UK dates. I can't imagine them doing two different time frames. We'll see.

From the Dining Plan FAQ:

The free dining promotion applies for arrivals starting August 5 (for the bounce-back offer) or August 12 (for the UK/European offer), through September 29, 2007.

They already are doing two different time frames. That's why it's confusing. Plus on the website it has most of August considered quiet weeks, but the 40% off promotion was only for trips starting on Aug. 22. So with all of the conflicting dates in August, it makes me wonder if the first half of August is filling up and will they be part of the promotion if one is announced. Still waiting.
