Just been diagnosed with Cubital Tunnel Syndrome

Its basically the other nerve on the arm. Carpel Tunnel is the radial nerve and cubital is the ulnar nerve. I have not heard of many people suffering with Cubital tunnel though. Its a pain in the back end.

Ouch!

pixiedust: I hope the treatments goes well! :goodvibes

I feel for all of you. I haven't had it yet, but my mother had it in both wrists and I know it was complete murder for her - she had both wrists operated on and I know it was major surgery (I wont go into details, but I really hope that you are spared that). I will say that she could do VERY LITTLE for some weeks afterwards :sad2:

My mother was a secretary (did a lot of typing, especially in the pre-compture, pre-electric typewriter days) - I believe that is considered to contributing to her problem a lot. I think that her carpel tunnels first acted up when she was pregnant with me, but they got really bad about 10/13 years later.

I have two tips that might help:
- look at your typing style (doing a lot of typing, hitting the keys quite hard and wrist position - if you rest your wrist on the desk or on a pad - can all affect your hands. If you have an office job, they should be able to give you tips about wrist position and posture (it comes under "health and safety" for office jobs).
- if you only experience the problem in one wrist and that is your "dominant" wrist (i.e. your right wrist if you are right handed), then start using your mouse in your other hand (you will need to swap the buttons over in control panel). I switched my mouse over to my left-hand about 7/8 years ago and it got rid of some tendon trouble I had in my right hand (it takes a few days to get used to using your mouse in your left hand, but worth it).

Good luck - I really feel for you and really hope that your problems can be resolved without surgery

From one Michele to another Michelle, sorry to hear that you are suffering. I went through it too after a car accident. Finally wound up needing surgery anyway, after 2 shots without relief. I hope that you don't wind up needing it too, althought with all my worrying about the kids(we have two) I would say recovery time was better then expected. My husband is always a wonderful dad but he exceeding my hopes in the way he stepped in and cooked dinner, gave baths, etc. It actually gave me a MUCH needed break. I can remember sitting on the couch with my feet up while he was cleaning up the dinner table one night and thinking how I could injure myself in the future:lmao:

Oh, and I don't know if anyone told you but a rigid wrist brace, they sell them at drug stores, really helped me with daily routines while I was awaiting surgery. I actually still use one from time to time when I know I'll be heavy lifting and such.
GOOD LUCK and hang in there (with your good hand:laughing: )!!

Oh hunny, i'm so sorry you're suffering so badly, really hope they get you fixed quickly, even if it is for selfish reasons;) hope the painkillers kick in fast, let us know how it goes:grouphug:

 I hope this is sorted out for you very soon
