Thought I'd start a thread for holiday food reviews so they are easy to find for everyone.

I'm most interested in the petite medallions at Carnation Cafe, the Alien macaron, the Christmas Tree macaron and other sweets. Even though I can't eat a lot of the other stuff, I love reading about it!

I know a few of you have already been but a lot of us will be going in December ...I know we want to come prepared and choose...wisely 😊

Let us hear from you!

I love Pizza Planet's alien macaron-my niece ate the eyes and stuck out her tongue with them on it...best photo op! I am looking forward to the kugel mac & cheese at DCA, the petite medallions at Carnation Cafe too! I have reservations for the dinner at Storytellers but am on the fence about it. Same for Goofy's kitchen, I have heard not so great things about both.

I had the AlPastor Torta and Tacos Dorados de Camaron (shrimp tacos) from Paradise Gardens. The torta was good - very large, easy to share. I didn't care for the tacos. There was too much competing with the shrimp and the taco shell was moist so it broke apart while eating.

We also tried the dulce de leche pull apart bread. It would have been better warm. They put coconut on top which I didn't think went with the dulce de leche & pecans. I'm being critical, it was very good and we ate it all. My spouse really liked the Cookie Butter Trifle from Boardwalk Pizza. I was too full by the time we got it so only had a spoonful.

Let me know what you think. It took forever to get our order so they gave us a free drink. It could be that we just got a dud. 🫤
We ate the burrito yesterday. Ours was warm so that was a good start. The lumpia still had crispness to it. I thought the flavors melded nicely. For us we would rate it a good rather than ok though I wouldn’t put it up there in the category of great.
I see also that you tried the shrimp tacos at Paradise Garden Grill. I found the flavor mostly good but not entirely what I expected. And I totally agree with you about the falling apart problem. I found it very frustrating to have what should be crispy tacos disintegrating in my hands. I get better shrimp or fish tacos from my taqueria at home for sure. I did like that the tacos were served with rice and beans and I stole some chips from my husband’s torta plate.

Cocina Cucomonga does tacos so well. When I saw the crisp taco shells, I was thinking they would be similar to Cocina's tacos. Maybe they should have done a shrimp burrito. Did you try the torta? If so, what did you think?

I think I rated the burrito okay because there wasn't much meat in it. The flavors were good and, as you said, the lumpia was crisp (unlike the Takis in last season's burrito). It was just a lot of carb.

I did not try the torta. My husband had that and enjoyed it but said the distribution of the meat was a little off. He said the overall combination of flavors was good and the bread held up well.

Interesting about the lack of meat in your burrito because I almost felt ours had too much. These things can be so inconsistent.
