At least I'm excited about the prospect of a new car. I'm really, really, really hoping they don't find my car this time. Like, really hoping! It will suck having car payments again so soon, but I'm cool with it.

Me too!

This is the worst time of year for that isn't it? We are talking about going to Santa Rosa on Saturday, maybe I will get to see the sun then.

I sure hope you get sun if you do! The sun is a big reason I would love to move to SoCal! There's more sun there than we have here. It's too blah for me. It's kind of foggy out here today.

We get so much valley fog here this time of year. I would prefer rain to the fog. I haven't seen sun last week.

It's sunny here today!! That doesn't mean it's not freezing cold here though! It's -7 (19 F) today, which is actually a lot warmer than it has been, but still cold. Oh well, at least it feels like Christmas! It just sucks having to warm up the cars for 15 minutes every morning! Brrr! I need a starter!

Car payments aren't so bad, if you're used to them, but it sucks because you had just finished paying it off! Are you going to put the money you get towards a new car, or are you gonna try and get a used one and keep it in the range your other car was worth? What have you been looking at, if anything?

I can't decide which I would prefer if I had to pick one. I'm not a fan of either! Especially when it's chilly or cold outside! I am a summer girl, through and through.

I would die if I lived in Canada!!

I was looking forward to having some time to save up money when I finally paid the Civic off. Sigh. No matter what we're getting a used car, but I can afford a newer used car if I put down all that we get for my car. I would like to spend no more than $11,000 preferably. The lower the car payments are, the better. I was looking at some Toyota Corollas like the rental I'm driving and the dealership my friend works for has a couple of 2005's in the $10,000 range so I'm leaning towards one of them at the moment.

I wouldn't mind the cold if I had sun. It's not seeing the sun that gets me. Within a few months of paying off our last van I was shopping for a new one. I will probably do the same with this one.

I like sun, I just hate the fog.

Ironically I found that the new cars tend to have lower payments.

But it's probably over longer periods of time, huh? With the Civic I was paying $213/month on a 5 year loan. I'm hoping we'll get about $6,000 (or somewhere near there) for mine if we get paid out and I would use every cent of it for a down payment. But with everything going on right now the lower I can keep payments the better. I don't want to be paying another $10,000 on top of what I put down.

I love my country, but winter just plain sucks! It's fun when you're a kid, cause you get snow days sometimes, and building forts out in the snow can be a blast. But then there's the slippery sidewalks and roads, and people who forget how to drive in this weather that help make it crappy. Now that I have a car it's tolerable, but before it was rather inconvenient.

Sunny days like today though, are still nice to see even if it doesn't mean much temperature wise. And I have to say there is one big thing I am greatful for our winters....they kill off all the bugs, preventing us from getting many big nasty ones!

A Toyota Corolla sounds like a good choice. Reliable and decent on gas. Which are two of the main things to look for, I think. That, and comfort. Decent miliage is nice, but if you're head is pressed against the ceiling, I'm not sure it's worth it!

I understand that. I know I found with my van was only a year old with low mileage. and being used was soooo much cheaper. So that was the way we went. I understand wanting low payments.

I've really liked the mileage on the Corolla so far. I made it down to Santa Monica and back plus two trips to Disneyland on less than 3 tanks which is on par with what my Civic got. So far it's all just speculation though. I don't want to get my heart set on a new car until we've got the money in the bank because until it's closed out there's a chance mine will come back.

Good point. I understand that completely.

Unfortunately my mother doesn't, lol. She keeps trying to get me out to test drive cars. I'm like, no mom! I'll get my hopes up too high if we do.

I am sure that she has gone in to stress mode over it. She wants you to have a car.

Getting a new car is exciting! I am still loving mine so much. For most of my life, I dreamed of having a Mustang, but because of the climate here, they just aren't that practical. They are almost impossible to drive in the winter, and two doors are kind of a pain. But I still wanted one so bad.

Since I got my Lancer though, I have stopped dreaming of the Mustang. I love it so much, that it's turned into my dream car. And it's 4 doors, which will be nice when the baby comes....that still feels weird to say...

Oh I am so sure on that one.

:goodvibes She's hilarious when it comes to her car. Hopefully I'll be that excited if I get a new one.
