The big difference would be: have you read the books?

To try and follow the movies alone, yeah it will be very choppy. Different directors have different takes on what is important. The entire scenery/layout of Hogwarts changed between the 2nd and 3rd film when Caron directed.

I've been annoyed at how, other than the actors, they haven't been focusing on telling a seamless story.

It could be that I haven't read the books. I tried reading the first one years ago, but never got into it. It could have been timing or just no interest at the time. I am tempted to try again though. I had the same hesitation with the Twilight series, until a friend pretty much forced me to read it. So maybe the same will happen with HP.

Read it ;) That's what I say. Things will make a lot more sense, lol. And you'll join the rest of us in the "why dd they leave this part out" club, lol.

I wish that instead of making movies out of books they would just make mini series or something so they could ... you know ... not cut stuff out.

I totally agree with that!! So many movies leave good stuff out!! Marley and Me is one that was a pretty good movie, but didn't have the real feel-good feeling you have when you're done reading the book. And Twilight too. I saw the first movie before I read the book. I thought the movie was ok, but didn't get the hype. Then my friend forced me to read the book, and it made so much more sense! I can appreciate the movie a lot more now, but it's still not the same as the book.

I can't say too much about the HP movies. I have seen all but the 6th one, but have trouble following them for some reason. I don't know if its just cause they're not my thing or what. I still plan on watching them, just to say that I have. Maybe I'll start from the beginning and try again. I have 3 of them that I bought at a second hand shop. One thing I do like about #4 is Cedric Diggory. :lovestruc

They aren't for everyone.

I so would have loved to have seen more about the Gaunt family. Especially considering how they tie in with the Peverel's.

I consider DH.1 Yate's redemption. The same for Kloves as well. I haven't really liked what he's done with the scripts in the past. Much better effort.

And one of my biggest complaints acting wise was always Emma Watson/Hermione. She was spectacular this time around.

I liked her in the first movie as the little Miss Know-it-all.

Great minds think alike.

I hope so it is really good and worth the effort.

It's all about the money.

Was the GoF the one where they fought through all those crazy rooms? That they totally cut out of the movie, I have not read the books in years and have been so disappointed with the movies I have only watched them once. I forget what happened in specific books/movies.

GoF was the Triwizard Tournament one. With the kids from the other schools.

Oh yeah I remember the book, but the movie is a little hazy, i thinking black Friday I will try to get them and re-watch them

We've had a couple of HP marathons 'round here. I rewatched all the movies before seeing DH and then when my sister got home and after watching DH I watched them all again. I'm stuck in my HP mood so I'm re-reading the books ... again.

Which is how I will be spending my Thanksgiving when I'm not working, lol.

I hate all harry potter.. except the 1st one.. and then they should of stopped at that. i'm sure peoplec could say that about "twilight" series..andd all of nicolas sparks novels that are now movies...

Lol, nice, yeah I totally need to re-watch them, I still think I will wait fo DH on DVD or download bootleg. I still don't trust them to make a good HP movie.

It's a good thing movies are coming out to DVD quicker than they used to. But I could never be patient enough for that. But I also don't pay full price at the theater. Then again ... I usually go see something more than once.

But as far as a book to movie adaptation, they did a pretty darn good job with DH. Still not LOTR standards, but better than a lot of garbage.

It's probably hazy because it is not one of the better ones.
