I still can't believe this happened to us!!!! Wait until you hear it!!!!! I don't care what anybody says: FAX THE ROOM ASSIGNER!!!!!

Checking in at 8:30 pm on 4/2. I don't like checking in late, because I think the earlier you check in, the better chance you have to change things if you aren't satisfied (just me!), so I was kind of set up for disappointment already.

We had 7 people (4 adults, 3 kids) confirmed in two connecting rooms at CR through SOG at $89 per room per night. THRILLED with that already! I faxed the room assigner a nice letter, saying this was a special 3-generation trip for us, and how I was hoping to get a first floor room, to have the patio for my parents to use, since they weren't doing the "commando" thing like we do. I had also noted these requests twice when calling SOG directly, but figured what the heck!

So we check-in, and my father gives the girl his confirmation slip. She looks at it, pounds a bunch of keys, and says: "Hhhhhhmmmmm". I immediately say "what's wrong??" So she says, "your confirmation says two connecting rooms, but that's not what I'm showing you've been assigned." I'm already rolling my eyes when she says: "I show you in a two-bedroom suite instead." My mouth fell open, and I just looked at my Dad. Then, when the girl said "I'd better go check this with my manager" my father and I looked like a bad Laurel and Hardy movie: we both put our hands out and said "Nnnnnnnoooooooo, you don't need to do that!"

Anyway, she checked, and we were, indeed in a TWO-BEDROOM SUITE overlooking the marina and the Bay. It was absolutely awesome, and at 10 pm when the water parade came right past one of our TWO balconies, I knew I was in heaven!!!!!!!

Morale of my story: FAX THE ROOM ASSIGNER and BELIEVE!!!!!!!

Glad to hear you got some great MAGIC on your trip....

What's CR/SOG? I can't figure it out. I love the abbreviations, but sometimes I feel like it's another language. Sorry for the stupidity, but help. OOOH. OOOH. Let me guess . . . Contemporary Resort/South Garden? The water pagent gets me in the right vicinity at least, right? Love to hear from you. Speaking of the water pageant, we had a similar experience in Feburary. We got to stay at the Poly and had Lagoon view rooms in the Hawaii longhouse. It was FANTASTIC!!!!! I'm right with you in thinking I was in heaven.

Way to go Patti!

Congratulations.....it is great to hear of your good fortune!

CR/SOG = Contemporary Resort/Shades of Green (for military personnel).:D

Hi Patti!
I was just wondering what the procedure was to doing this. So do you just fax the hotel to the attention of the room assigner? Please let me know, I've got a special occassion comming up myself and this would be a great treat!

Thank you very much for sharing your tip!

Congratulations, PattiPB!!! You and your family must have felt so special. It's very unusual to get that much of an upgrade, but pixie dust must have been sprinkled on you all. Thanks for sharing the magic.

What a nice surprise! Good for you guys!

What was the 2 bedroom suite like?

You do fax the request to the resort to the attention of the room assigner. I did mine 3 days in advance, and I've seen where some tell you to do it 4 days in advance. You can find the fax numbers in a lot of places (let me know if you have any trouble finding it, and I'll help).

I wrote a nice letter, telling the CBR my DS ages and that while we weren't celebrating any b-days or anniversary, etc., we were happy just being at WDW. I requested a certain building, with 2nd and 3rd choices. I included the name the reservation was in, our address, the reservation number and the arrival/departure dates.

I even threw in a few pieces of clip art. It was fun to come up with!

Anyway, we got a great room in the building I requested -- it was perfect! Hope this helps!

CONGRATS!! I believe in doing this also - I tried it for the first time this past Oct '02 for my GF trip and I simply requested a king bed, dormer room nonsmoking and got all 3 - but to my very, very happy surprise I also got an MK view!! WOO!HOO! When I was able to stand out on my balcony and watch "Fantasy in the Sky" I was practically in tears!! I can't wait to go back - 5/31 - 6/5 at BCV - hoping for an Epcot/Illuminations view this time!!

Nobody here in my everyday life really gets the Disney craze, so they just said "how nice" but didn't really GET IT! I knew I could share it here. Since we live so far away, I rarely have much to contribute to these boards---I'm usually just learning myself. I have much more info on DL (obviously!).

We had suite #8208. It was the length of the end of the NGW (does that make sense!?!?!?) The very end of the NGW, where it meets the Bay has a stairway on the first floor level, with a regular room on each side of it. The 2nd and 3rd floors have suites that span the length of the area, making it the size of two regular rooms and a parlor in the middle (where the stairs are on the first floor).

We had two king beds, a couch pull-out into a queen bed in one parlor area, and two of the convertible couches into twin beds (one in one king bedroom and the other in the second sitting area). We had a table with 4 chairs in the parlor, a table with 2 chairs in the king room, four armchairs and two patios. The parlor had a set of sliders onto a look-out patio (no space to walk) and we had windows on both sides of the bedrooms. We also had a fridge (no charge!), three tvs, two bathrooms and 3 showers.

What floor were you on?? Did they also give you full concierge services??

Sounds to me like she was put in the north garden wing...there are no concierge services out there. By the room number (82xx) sounds like 2nd floor.

CONGRATS PATTI!!!! I agree too....faxes do work miracles ;)

Mousehut is exactly right! We were at the very end of the NGW, second floor. We did have turn down service (which the kids loved!!) and we hadn't requested a fridge, but bought a styrofoam cooler at Publix instead, and the maid brought us one without us asking for no charge!!!

BTW---I'm from exit 148, Mousehut! I know you know what I mean, you know.....LOL!!!

THanks Wickey's Friend!

That helps out alot! Actually, looks like we'll be staying at the CBR ourselves! What building/room did you find to be the ideal location?

What did you like about the CBR, this will be our first time staying there, we usually stay at POFQ!

Thanks!!:Pinkbounc
