Well we just got back from two wonderful weeks at YC. Before I start going through this massive amount of laundry and suitcases to unpack I wanted to check in with the DIS.

New at YC - Not only do they have they movies and campfire on the beach every night, they have organized kids activities at the pool each day. They had bingo, pool parties, Disney trivia, hula hoop contests, etc. My kids loved it, and all the kids there really liked participating.

For the first time we faxed our room request in addition to noting it on our initial reservation. We got exactly what we asked for! We had room 1051, lakefront facing the Boardwalk and close to the side exit door. My in-laws had booked a standard view room and were upgraded to waterview room 1055, just two doors away from us.

Rooms were in good condiiton, nothing looked rundown or worn.

Mousekeeping was inconsistent. Out of 14 days we had 7 days of very good mousekeeping, 2 days of just okay mousekeeping, and 5 days of terrible mousekeeping. After the two day of poor mousekeeping we complained and the next day had a room full of towel animals, but two days later bad mousekeeping again! It was really the luck of the draw, some mousekeepers were excellent and some were terrible. We requested turn down service and received it every night. Last year I requested turn down service and only received it once. We requested our room to be done by 12:00 as we come back to the room in the afternoon to swim/nap and it was done every by noon every day but one time. We always tipped mousekeeping so the inconsistencies had nothing to do with that.

CMs were all friendly and helpful. The CM who runs the Albatross Cruice and the kids activities was especially nice.

We ate at Beaches and Cream (always great), Cape May Buffet (very good), YC Galley (big disappointment, worse meal of the trip and it used to be one of our favorite places) and Hurricane Hannah (good counterservice). We got breakfast items from the BC Marketplace a few mornings but it just seemed to our of the way to use frequently for us.

This was our first trip totally at an EPCOT resort. We usually do Monorail resorts or a YC/monorail resort switch. While I really enjoyed the YC DH and I missed the monorail resorts so much we tried to switch to a split stay but GF, Poly and CR didn't have any openings. Next time we will do a split stay for our long trip (two weeks gives you plenty of time to enjoy both resort areas).

Kids of course spent lots of time in SAB. They loved swimming there in the day, but we wished it would stay open a little later at night for some after the parks swimming. We went over to the quiet pool one night but that quiet pool is a lot different that then GF quiet pool and we didn't stay there long.

All in all it was a wonderful trip.
We hated to leave - now I have to get planning our January trip because you know the only way to get over having to leave Disney is to start planning another tirp!

Hi there....sounds like a great trip. We will be arriving at BCV next weekend for 8 days.....quick question..for the buses to MK and AK does YC & BC share the buses with other resorts? How were the buses and travel times?

:wave2:
Happy to hear most of your trip went well. I completely agree on doing the split stay. We stayed at BW for 8 days this trip and also missed the monorail resorts too. Always a next time:cool1:

thanks for the update. Great news about the pool activities. DD is going to love it!!!

The busses were probably the reason I missed the monorail resorts the most! In the morning the busses to MK were just from YC and BC. Later in the day sometimes it was just BC/YC and sometimes it was YC/BC/BWI. AK and Blizzard Beach was BC/YC/ BWI/Swan and Dolphin as was the Typhoon Lagoon/Downtown Disney bus. We also had an issue twice - where we were waiting for an early evening MK bus (at YC) and had a 45 minute wait!

Of course walking to EPCOT and taking the boat to MGM was great (except for the other day when they had to close the YC dock because of a swarm of bees!).

I forgot to add - although the Disney smoking policy was in effect before we got there we smelled smoke coming from th balconies above us several times and there were cigarette butts and a cigar butt in front of our patio in the morning several days. We were on the ground floor so I don't know if it was from other resort guest or just people who walked by and thought they could just leave their butts!

We didn't report anyone but it was annoying that we had to go in from our patio a few times since dd has asthma and the smell of cigarette smoke really bothers her.

Thanks for the report!

We are hooked on the GF but wanted to try something a little different for our August 2 night trip to go to PP&P. I had booked YC GVC because I got the AP rate but something opened up at CR AC for those 2 nights at the AP rate!! I decided it was fate and switched! I am glad I did now because we will be spending most time at MK and after reading yours and others views on the slow MK busses ,I think I did the right thing!

We are back to the GF for our December trip but I think we will try YC (we've stayed at BC - liked it but a little crazy) for a few nights for our June 2008 trip! I do like being able to walk to to Epcot and the boat to MGM is great, too!
Of course, the kids love SAB!The kids activities sound great!

Have a great time planning your January trip!:)
