Well we just got back from two wonderful weeks at YC. Before I start going through this massive amount of laundry and suitcases to unpack I wanted to check in with the DIS.
New at YC - Not only do they have they movies and campfire on the beach every night, they have organized kids activities at the pool each day. They had bingo, pool parties, Disney trivia, hula hoop contests, etc. My kids loved it, and all the kids there really liked participating.
For the first time we faxed our room request in addition to noting it on our initial reservation. We got exactly what we asked for! We had room 1051, lakefront facing the Boardwalk and close to the side exit door. My in-laws had booked a standard view room and were upgraded to waterview room 1055, just two doors away from us.
Rooms were in good condiiton, nothing looked rundown or worn.
Mousekeeping was inconsistent. Out of 14 days we had 7 days of very good mousekeeping, 2 days of just okay mousekeeping, and 5 days of terrible mousekeeping. After the two day of poor mousekeeping we complained and the next day had a room full of towel animals, but two days later bad mousekeeping again! It was really the luck of the draw, some mousekeepers were excellent and some were terrible. We requested turn down service and received it every night. Last year I requested turn down service and only received it once. We requested our room to be done by 12:00 as we come back to the room in the afternoon to swim/nap and it was done every by noon every day but one time. We always tipped mousekeeping so the inconsistencies had nothing to do with that.
CMs were all friendly and helpful. The CM who runs the Albatross Cruice and the kids activities was especially nice.
We ate at Beaches and Cream (always great), Cape May Buffet (very good), YC Galley (big disappointment, worse meal of the trip and it used to be one of our favorite places) and Hurricane Hannah (good counterservice). We got breakfast items from the BC Marketplace a few mornings but it just seemed to our of the way to use frequently for us.
This was our first trip totally at an EPCOT resort. We usually do Monorail resorts or a YC/monorail resort switch. While I really enjoyed the YC DH and I missed the monorail resorts so much we tried to switch to a split stay but GF, Poly and CR didn't have any openings. Next time we will do a split stay for our long trip (two weeks gives you plenty of time to enjoy both resort areas).
Kids of course spent lots of time in SAB. They loved swimming there in the day, but we wished it would stay open a little later at night for some after the parks swimming. We went over to the quiet pool one night but that quiet pool is a lot different that then GF quiet pool and we didn't stay there long.
All in all it was a wonderful trip.
We hated to leave - now I have to get planning our January trip because you know the only way to get over having to leave Disney is to start planning another tirp!
