*HHI Owners and Beach Lovers Group Thread*

I read in the Island Packet today what the 3 top places to eat breakfast are, or at least according to the Island Packet. I've only been to one of them, not even familiar with the other two
1. Palmetto Bay Sunrise Cafe
2. Plantation Cafe and Deli
3. Watusi Cafe

I enjoyed Harolds Diner,,just down the street...simple breakfest,,no BS

We went to GT International, 'basically' right across the street .... thought it was very good for breakfast.....only wish they opened up a little earlier then 8am.

I need some insights from HHI lovers. I live within driving distance of HHI, but I have a very hard time seeing the value in using my DVC points for a stay there. A few factors for me:

  • I get to go to other nearby beaches somewhat frequently, and someone in my extended family owns a beach house at one. So HHI feels less "special".
  • The resort isn't actually on the beach. The other non-beach front places to stay at HHI are quite a bit cheaper. Part of the value of DVC at WDW is the premium location and convenience, so it feels like HHI just falls a bit flat on that.
  • There aren't any other Disney attractions around, so I'm not sure what sets it apart from other beach stays.

I'd love to hear what you love about Disney's HHI, what your favorite things are to do that you can't do if you're not staying at the Disney resort, and reasons why I should use points here instead of WDW. I'm sure at some point I'll book something just to try it out, but I'd appreciate any insights you can share.

Based on your personal factors, I'd say don't use your points there. The CMs are the best anywhere, and for those who don't live near the beach or have access to other beaches, it's a glorious change of pace. Though HHI has marvelous beaches, it doesn't sound as though the criteria most people use who visit there would apply to you.

It's really about the Disney difference at HHI. The cast members and activities at the resort. If you want a beach resort on HHI or in SC in general, yes you have tons of options. Timeshares especially, there is no shortage of timeshare villas along the SC coast.
