Hi all, we just got home today around 2:00pm.......We spent 6 days at POP (2 rooms in the 80's bldng.) and 1 night at All Star Sports.

I will start my trip report Sunday.

Heads up for anyone staying at POP or another value resort. I would definitely request a room away from the pools. I thought I wanted to be close to them, WRONG!! (I would request parking lot or hour glass lake views)3 out of 6 nights at POP I was awoke around 3:00am due to noise from the pool areas.........I called security all 3 times!!! The pools were out of control. Wed. night I stepped out of our room at 2:42am and counted 17 people in the pool, yelling, smacking those foam noodles in the water, just plain loud.....I couldnt believe small kids were swimming at this time too.....Security did come down all 3 times and put an end to it, but it was crazy.....Our final night was spent at All sports, we were in the football building, I could hear people in the pools there too, not as much though.

I am not a light sleeper, DW was awoke numerous times also, my 13 & 14 year old boys (connecting room) were awoke also......

I will def. think again before booking a value resort, we prob. wont again....

The rooms and the facility were great, this was not Disney's fault just rude inconsiderate people.....

Crowds were incredible, water parks closed due to capacity every day!!

To all the upcoming free dining people, I wish you luck!!!!

We did have fun, but very limited!!!

Feel free to ask any questions about POP or All Star Sports.

Sorry to hear about your bad experiences:scared:

We stayed at POP in the 90's section and had a great time, but our room was well away from the pool areas (quite close to the parking actually). We generally look for rooms far from the pools/food courts etc.

Sorry to hear about your stay. We went thru a similar situation, but at the Beach Club. We were given a room right next to the "quiet" pool and it turned out to be the "very loud, people swimming and yelling all night" pool. Luckily we always bring our alarm clock that has a white noise feature on it and we just cranked it up pretty loud and went back to sleep. Unfortunately, there are people everywhere who could care less about someone trying to sleep and they'll do exactly what they want to at value, moderates or deluxe resorts...:sad2:

Even though some guests think the pools are open 24 hours, they are not. Pool hours are posted at the pools. Check them when you are there and if there is noise after those hours, complain.

You paid for a good night's sleep. Have to wonder when these people sleep, makes you want to take a noodle at 6am and whop their doors with it. ;)

the 60's pool is much to close to the 60's building.

so sorry you had a bad stay. I never get a preferred room in the value resorts.

how did you like the sports? did you get a rehab room?

I am surprised that security doesn't come around to all the pools during the night to keep people out. I have heard many complaints about the noisy pools at night. They must be monitoring the grounds anyway, so why not put a stop to this pool problem?

Thank you for that tip!!! It might seem strange to some people that facing a parking lot is preferable, but no! It was really, really quiet when I was there last year!

Looking at your siggie, you've previously been a mod to deluxe family. Maybe your Disney Resort Value Meter is set higher on the scale. Sorry about this trip and hope it works out better next time.

I don't think the value resorts have the lock on noise. As one poster stated, they had the same problem at the BC. I think the key is being close to the pool. :)

We were just there last week too - we had a standard room in the 70s - the Big Wheel building. It was a nice location with a short cut to the bus stop and not too far from the food court. It was also a reasonable walk to either the computer pool or the hippy dippy pool. I agree, I would not want to stay close to the pool areas either.

I agree. I think you are correct.

These are my Tips to reduce room noise at your resort .

I stay at the values quite often and have never had an issue with noise.

The noise issues come with :

1. The main pool is located very close to some of the value rooms.

The themed pools at the mods and deluxes are set away from the rooms.

Tip: Ask for a room facing away or located a ways from the main pool.

2. Turbo toilets

The Values are newer and have the turbo toilets.

Tip: Close your bathroom door at night because noise travels through the plumbing.

3. Connecting rooms

About 50% of the value rooms have connecting doors.

Noise will travel under the connecting doors in a room.

Tip: If you have noisy neighbors open your connecting door and place a rolled up bath towel on the floor between then close and lock your connecting door.

Some guests find that using a fan or white noise machine helps them sleep better.

These tips should help you get a restful sleep wherever you choose to stay.

Have fun at Disney!:wizard:

Sorry to hear about your experience. I have stayed at Pop 3 yrs in a row and going to make it 4 next year. We go in May, less crowds, and always get a standard room so we are way from the pools. This year we stayed in the 60's building overlooking the lake, It was beautiful and quiet. We loved it.

Yes, the POP pools can be very loud..even the quiet pools.:sad2:

I have found from my POP experience that the resort if FABULOUS if you go when it isn't as crowded, but when it's just packed out.....forget it!

Sorry to hear about the rude people. People just dont think or maybe they do but just dont care.

We stayed at POP 2 years ago and our room was right by the Rubiks cube-3rd floor. We were right by the pool but we didnt have any noise after hours but like clockwork, at 5am every morning we could hear the guy above us urinating then flushing the toilet. We heard every little thing.LOL

I have to agree too. Inconsiderate people stay at moderate and deluxe resorts as well. I always ask for a quiet room, meaning far away from the pool.

Nope, we did not get a rehab room. They were doing the building across from us though. My son went over and looked in, he said they had new furniture, bigger tvs, new paint. Ours was a little rough, but fine. We did not get a preferred room at POP, just standard.

Thanks for all the replies and advice. We will def. not be going back in June, July or August.........way too crowded.
Without starting the whole foreigners issue it was "free dining" for Europeans while we were there. POP was sold out, as all values were!!l Speedos were everywhere!!! Maybe the time difference screwed them up, they couldnt sleep at night so they thought it would be a good idea to go swimming!!
Pool hours were posted everywhere, didnt matter. Security did bring signs out to put in front of the steps into the pools......people hung their towels on them......go figure.

I would think security would patrol at night and eliminate this issue.

Lets face it...its a crap shoot what you will find when you stay at a motel. sometimes good... sometimes not so good. It doesnt matter where you go. But I will say this, Disney is becoming overcrowded more times than not and allowing an open pool in an area where people are sleeping... Come on 3am? Close the pools at midnight!!!! for pete sake:headache:

Ditto! We were there from Aug 6-12. Never again in the summer. Now we have been in the month of August five times over the years. Each time we go brave the heat and crowds, I say never again, but this time I really mean it. We were in Disney last year for the same week - Aug 7-13 and while it was awfully hot and crowded, there were times we got a break and actually got on a ride while the parades were going on. Not this year. Not a break to be had, ever. The exception was during the Pirate Princess Party. That's the only time we were able to ride rides as if it were slow season. I had to pay extra for that, but it was the only thing that allowed us to enjoy the rides. So, sorry about the time you had. I do agree, it was CROWDED!!!
