Just back today, very disappointed.

We had the same experience at CS once. Loud people in the pool at 2 am. People stood on the balcony outside our room yelling back and forth with the people in the pool. How rude. It amazes me how inconsiderate people can be.

Same thing happened to us at All-Star Sports. My son was 2, so it was about 5 yrs ago. There wasn't a preferred rate for staying around the pool, then...we just got "lucky." I guess there was a cheerleading competition, so there was a bunch of cheerleaders in the pool at about 1 in the morning...of course, the cheerleaders attracted boys and then it was a full-on party. Woke my terrible sleeper of a son up and then that was it for the night- he was awake...ruined our entire next day!

My major beef was not with the kids in the pool, as inconsiderate as they were. It was with security- we had to call them multiple times b/c they would chase them, leave, and the kids would come back 5 minutes after they left. They kept saying that they know and that everyone is calling...well, then don't leave!! This little game of cat and mouse went on for a good 2 hrs. We spoke to a mgr in the morning and they credited us for the night and moved us. NEVER again will I stay anywhere near a pool!

Thanks for all the replies and advice. We will def. not be going back in June, July or August.........way too crowded.
Without starting the whole foreigners issue it was "free dining" for Europeans while we were there. POP was sold out, as all values were!!l Speedos were everywhere!!! Maybe the time difference screwed them up, they couldnt sleep at night so they thought it would be a good idea to go swimming!!
Pool hours were posted everywhere, didnt matter. Security did bring signs out to put in front of the steps into the pools......people hung their towels on them......go figure.

I would think security would patrol at night and eliminate this issue.

Another solution (not a popular one) would be if Disney fenced in their pools and had a keyed gate. Then the gate could be locked at night.

I know it would detract from the looks of the pools but it would 3 problems.
1.)It would keep littles ones safer since children could not get too close to the pool without an adult or older sibling etc.
2.) It would help cut down on the number of pool hoppers.
3.) It would keep guest after midnight or whatever hour Disney decides to close the pool at.

BTW
Michigan has a state law that any pool 3 feet (36 inches) high needs to have a 4 foot fence around it.

Have fun at Disney!:wizard:

We had the same thing happen to us at POR in 2005 over thanksgiving .....
We had requested a waterview room - ended up with a pool view and listening to people swimming yelling into the wee hours.

Here's an idea.

ELECTRIFIED POOL COVERS.!!! That would guarentee compliance with pool hours!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

We were at Pop last week and when we checked in, the CM had given us a 50's overlooking the pool. I said no, we wanted quiet and didn't realize preferred meant listening to noise all the time. (I had remembered someone said being near the pool was noisy from the boards). So he said the only way he could check for an open standard room was to downgrade to standard. So we did. We were in 50's overlooking the lake and it wasn't a far walk at all---to the pool or the food court. All we had to do was go right around the corner and down the bowling pin steps and we were at the pool.

We heard turbo toilets and a few doors shutting, but it wasn't anything that was so disruptive that it ruined our vacation. Like at ASMo 2 years ago when someone kept ringing our phone at all hours of the night and hearing the kids jumping off the balconies--now THAT was disruptive.

I talked to the life guard one morning and he said the pool is posted for a midnight closing, but he's actually found people sleeping near it in the morning. He said as long as you don't cause a ruckus that they will let you swim. I didn't have to worry about it, cause I was long in my bed after pounding the pavements everyday. Overlooking the lake was nice, I'd definitely stay on that side again.

Sorry you had a bad stay. We were at POP from 7-7 to 7-20 and we had a great time. We were in building 10 in the 70's building. Short walk across the 90's parking lot to buses and short walk pass big wheel and goofy jets to the pool and food court. The crowds in the morning for breakfast was awful but we expected that in the summer and we only ate there 3 times in the morning. My brother stayed by the pool last year and said it was noisy. I would stay at this resort again!:thumbsup2

OP - did you pay for a preferred room? It looks like the majority of the preferred rooms overlook the pools.

Just curious, hoping for a nice quiet standard room. :thumbsup2

We stayed at the BC the last week of July, and had a problem with the people next door. I have teenagers and an 8 year old, and we were usually in bed by midnight. We hit the parks in the early morning, then back in the evenings. The family next door had several YOUNG kids, and they would come in at 1 or 2 a.m., running up and down the halls, screaming, banging on the walls and doors, then did the same inside their room. :sad2: This happened several nights, in fact, until they checked out. I would never let my children behave that way, especially in a hotel with indoor corridors, especially at that hour of the night. It's one thing to make a little noise, but these kids were wild, and their parents did NOTHING to quiet them.

We were in building 10 also - great location!!! It was relatively quiet except for our last night there - people were noisy coming in late from the parks. The turbo toilets are quite loud.

Nope, we did not get a rehab room. They were doing the building across from us though. My son went over and looked in, he said they had new furniture, bigger tvs, new paint. Ours was a little rough, but fine. We did not get a preferred room at POP, just standard.

What building were you in at All-Star Sports? And do you remember what building it was that your son took a look at (that was being redone)?

isn't it awful that people can be sooo rude??? i know it can and does happen evrywhere but the values are so much larger that you are just open to having more people making more noise. i haven't stayed at pop but have driven by it..that was enough for me. it just looked loud and crazy. sorry your trip was as magical as it could be... better luck next trip.:thumbsup2

Yes people are rude (don't you know they are on vacation and can do whatever they want:rolleyes1 ), but there is no reason resort security can't put a stop to it ASAP. All it would take is one stroll by the pool every half hour or so. What else are they doing at that time of night. It should be all about patrolling the resort grounds.

Last weekend whenever I came back to Pop from PI at 1:30 am the bowling pin pool was full of swimmers.

My room was facing the pool but on the 4th floor and I didn't hear a lot of it inside.

I always thought when the pool was 'closed,' it just meant that there were not any lifeguards on duty. I didn't think it actually meant swimmers weren't allowed.:confused3 (Not that I care, I never swim anyway.)

I too am sorry to hear about your stay. It stinks that people can't be considerate. I feel like such an old (fill in blank w/ preferred expression) saying this but, just b/c you are on vacation, doesn't mean your manners should be!

When I traveled a lot for work (for a tv studio) I'd come in late a lot from broadcasts, and I always made a special effort to be quiet and even to run the tv at a low volume if I needed to veg before bed. Just b/c I was a night owl due to work schedule, it doesn't mean everyone is.

Anyway, I hope the rest of the trip was good.

And, I too am curious about the refurbs at ASSp. Any info on which bldgs were done and which weren't that you know about would be greatly appreciated.

We stayed in rooms 204 & 205 in the football building. If you look at a map, it would be the building closest to the parking lot. The building directly across from that was being refurbed. The end building towards the baseball building was being worked on (all floors). I have no idea how far along they were on the project.

This can happen at any of the resorts. At about 2:30 am during our stay at the CBR a group of well-lubricated businessmen decided to continue their drinking in our little courtyard. They scattered pretty quick when I came out of our room in my nightgown and scowled at them from the balcony.

One night at the Poly a mother decided to let her two boys run laughing and screaming up and down the hall at about 1 am.

Maybe Disney should require all its guests to go through its cast member training!

I do know exactly what you mean....while I am not suggesting that people do not have "fun" on vacation, they should still be considerate of others. We also experienced VERY ROWDY behavior at POP...and we have been to all sorts of resorts...values, mods and deluxes. We will NOT stay at POP ever again...(never say never)...When we were there, the pool was PACKED at 1:30 am!!!...and it was so LOUD, that we left because of it....

OP--Sorry you did not have a great time. A quick ?? about Sports, just want to confirm something I read here earlier. They now do provide bar soap for both sink and shower? There are no more body wash dispensers?
I also appreciate that you stated the facilities were fine and the problem is rude, inconsiderate people. Alot of the posts I've read stating that there is a problem with Disney, is really more there is a problem with rude people. Certainly Disney can take the appropriate action (security getting people out of the pool in the middle of the night!) but they really cannot control people's inconsideration.

On that note, I can't believe there were little kids swimming at 2AM!

After reading this I'm starting to worry I paid for a prefered room figuring it would be close to the food court and buses not knowing they are mostly pool views. I'd rather not have to listen to noise at 2am from the pool. I will request a quieter one if I can or go to standard if they are available...
