Just back-thoughts on BLT and CSR

We just returned from a fabulous trip to the World! I don't really have time to do a trip report so thought I would just share some thoughts and highlights!

BLT: We absolutely loved this resort. We rented points and stayed in a 2 BR lake view and it was great. Plenty of space (4 adults, a teenager, and 2 kiddos), kitchen was great for breakfasts and a couple dinners, washer and dryer was so nice to have, and DS7 loved the jet tub! Our view was of the pool and Bay Lake and it was very pretty. The location cannot be beat as we had so many transportation options and it was such an easy walk to the MK. We had absolutely no complaints about the resort at all except the location of the pool means that after 3-4 PM, the sun was completely blocked by the hotel. I would definitely stay here again.

Coronado Springs: After the first 7 days, the family left and DM and I moved over to CSR (I had a work conference and she just needed R&R). We thought this resort was perfect for what we needed....quiet and relaxing. It definitely seemed more adult and less "Disney." Although we enjoyed it very much, I honestly would not want to stay there with kids (Disclaimer: I am a spoiled rotten Deluxe girl). I didn't mind the walking (we were in the ranchos), but I cannot imagine walking around all day in the parks and then having to drag the kids all around the resort....but that is just my opinion.

Crowds: We were there Nov 10-17 as a family so we hit the end of Jersey Week. Our first weekend was pretty crowded, especially since we are used to going in Jan/Feb, which is not busy at all. On Saturday, Epcot was absolutely mobbed (esp the World Showcase) so we ended up just leaving. You could seriously barely walk around and it just wasn't worth it. By Sunday and especially Monday, things had definitely thinned out. We used FP appropriately and never waited more than 15 min or so to ride anything.

MVMCP: We made the mistake of choosing Friday, November 11 to attend the party. Now, I knew it would probably be a little crowded, but didn't at all think it would sell out! We arrived around 6, after dinner at Chef Mickey's and mainstreet/castle area was already completely full of people waiting on the 8:30 parade...I think that's nuts! We did manage to ride a few rides and then see the parade from Frontierland, but it was very crowded over there also. After the parade, lines were manageable so we did BTMRR and ended up watching the fireworks from Frontierland also, which was fine. After the fireworks, though, we tried to walk through the castle area to Tomorrowland....huge mistake! There were so many people, you just couldn't move at all! I got annoyed and just headed back to the hotel (DM and DD had already gone back) but the boys stayed and did manage to ride SM and Buzz after waiting for about 45 minutes. We did enjoy the party...the snow on mainstreet was beautiful, the castle was beautiful, the parade and fireworks were very good but honestly, there were too many people. We had previously attended the Pirate and Princess Party and it was so awesome! I guess I thought this one would be similar.

Food: We ate at CRT, CM, Ohana (BFast), WCC, T-Rex, Sci-Fi, La Hacienda and then DM and I went to Fulton's Crab House. The food at the character meals was just average but let's face it, you are paying for the experience. WCC was pretty good and we had a very lively waitress. Everyone liked T-Rex, especially the boys and we thought Sci-Fi was a great experience. I didn't love my food there but it wasn't terrible. We did not like La Hacienda though....except DS7 who wolfed down his chicken tacos. Honestly, though, my favorite meal of the trip was at Fulton's. I know it gets mixed reviews but we really thought the food was fantastic and the service was excellent!

Thanks for reading and let me know if you have any questions. Fyi, the weather was absolutely fantastic for our entire trip!!

Great report ( feel like I had read this before lol ;))
Glad you enjoyed Fulton's, we think it's Lovely too :thumbsup2
So, how soon will you be back for more Magic ?

Ha ha...don't know where you would have read that before ;) I will be back in the magic in 49 days to run the Marathon Relay! Can't wait...staying at BWV for an adults only trip with DH!

I just have one question. When you stayed at Bay Lake Tower did you experience any problems with the Resort Monorail?

Thanks for the review. We've never stayed at BLT, but we have stayed at CSR nine times and I'm glad you and your DM enjoyed it.

Glad you enjoyed BLT. I have stayed there before and feel precisely the same way about the place. It is just all-around fantastic!

I hope to stay at CSR someday. I've only heard good things about it.

I just have one question. When you stayed at Bay Lake Tower did you experience any problems with the Resort Monorail?

We had a problem one night when we left Epcot after Illuminations. The resort monorail was not running any longer so we had to take a monorail to the TTC and then take a bus to the CR and yes, it was a pain. There was also a direct bus from Epcot to CR, but we didn't find that out until we were literally boarding the monorail. We didn't have any problems from the MK because we just walked back and forth every time (I think it is faster to walk). In the grand scheme of things, I guess it wasn't that big of a deal but at the time, I will be honest, I was highly annoyed! My DD2 was very tired and it just made the whole process stressful.

Thanks for your reply.

We have the same set up as you for February. Two bedroom with four adults, teen and two kids. Did you feel that you had enough room to all spread out?

Thanks for the review. We are kicking around either a Sept or November trip next year and the crowd reports really help.

Glad you loved BLT! It's my all-time favorite!

Thanks for the reviews. :)

We didn't feel cramped at all. We had a dedicated 2 bedroom (we did not make a request either way) so we had 2 queens in the 2nd bedroom. My DM and her BF slept in one of those, while my DS7 and DMBF (love that abbreviation), slept in the other (although 2 nights DS slept with DH in the king bed just because he wanted to). DD2 slept in the pack and play in our room, although she could have easily slept in our bed or on the pull-out in the living room. No one ever slept on it so we kept the living room as a place for people to just relax etc.... which was nice. The 3rd bathroom was very helpful as DM could get ready in there while the boys took showers in the other bathroom and I got ready in the master bath. It was a perfect set up actually. Hope you have a great trip!

Great Review! So glad you loved BLT you sound just like us - 2 years ago we booked BLT (we try to stay at new resorts within the first year) We had booked a studio and was upgraded to a 1 BR Lake on the North side where you could see the MK. Needless to say, we fell in love with the place that on Thanksgiving day we became DVC members!

Just fyi, I think the MVMCP are just selling more tickets than in years past. We have done it twice, both tuesday nights. Once great crowd, the second time awful. We went on the 15th to CRT for dinner. People were already lining up for the parade BEFORE 6pm. We had to wait for our table so got out of dinner at 8pm. Since we were not attending the party, they escorted a group of us out. Trying to get down main street sidewalks with 2 CM leading us was a joke. People EVERYWHERE. I was so glad we didn't get tickets a third time.

I too wish the sun didn't hide behind BLT so early in the day, but otherwise loved the pools. My kids loved the counselors there also!!
