Just back & rode the new POTC!

It makes me so happy to know that Capt. Jack looks like Johnny Depp. I am a Johnny Depp fanatic and looking forward to seeing the new POTC ride. Only three more sleeps!

I have a few questions...

Is the skeleton still at the beginning that talks to you? "Dead men tell no tales!"

will we still hear "We Wants the Redhead! We Wants the Redhead!"

does the guy still whistle for the dog at the end?

Is the parrot still at the entrance outside?

I love the fight scene where it feels like you're really outside in the ocean.. please tell me this hasn't changed too much?

Thanks .. these are my fav. parts of the ride. I hope they didn't change too many of them.

Is it odd that the dirty legged pirate ISN'T my favorite one? :tiptoe: My favortie is the very last pirate, in the red coat shooting in the room where the gold is....I love his silly laugh!

SOOOO cool!!!!! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to see this Sept.!!!!

Seems so far away yet, but looking at my ticker below makes me realize it's just around the corner.

WOO-HOOO pirate:

Is the part still there when the town is on fire and the pirates locked in the cell are trying to lure the dog w/ keys toward them? It's my favorite! When I was going as a kid, for some reason I never noticed the keys and thought they were trying to get the dog because they wanted something to eat! I know its a little wierd, but a 5 year old's brain just doesn't always work the way it should!

Drop is small but dark ( Norway good for compairision) .The new updated battle sceen is a bit more intence (feel hear it better).

Other then that she should be fine everything else is just YO HO YO HO pirates having fun.

Thanks! We'll keep singing the song to get her in the mood! Thanks for the heads up about the battle scene. I'd rather have her prepared and let her decide than have a freaking out kiddo on my hands. We were surprised about the drop in Norway on our first trip and she had me in a death grip for about 20 minutes after we got off the ride. This time, she'll be ready! pirate: Thank you thank you!

This ride is one of my fav's. Can't wait to try it out with the updates.

I can answer a few of these.

The Jolly Roger (skull & crossbones) that talks to you is gone at the moment. There is some speculation, however, that it may possibly return.

"We wants the redhead!" is still there.

The fight scene has been enhanced with subwoofers and air cannons such that you will actually 'feel' the cannon blasts.

Hope that helps! :thumbsup2

Thanks for this! Sounds awesome, I cannot wait to ride! I was there in May when it was closed and it was the biggest torment EVER since that is one of my favorite rides! :thumbsup2

All and all I liked the new version. I rode it Wednesday night and really liked the changes they made. pirate:

Thank you so much! I heard the parrot is gone. I can't believe they took him away! It was such a small part of the "ride" but it was my absolute favorite (aside from the man whistling for the dog and the dog at the end)... I loved this parrot and have so many pics of him.. I take a pic everytime I go. This really breaks my heart I hope enough people complain that they (easily) bring him back! Heck I"d visit him before AND after the ride!

I also hope the speculation is right. I really liked the floating scull he always gave me goosebumps and got me in the mood for the ride. These 2 things, I think, are so very very memorable and such small things they could've been left... *(sigh)*

I'm just not very good with change I suppose.

 I want to go back. was there in may for star wars weekends and did not get to go on potc because of the update. May be going in jan and doing the cruise so i will see it then i hope. gald you had fun.

Don't feel bad, when I was 5 I thought the volcano in the background inside the Mexico Pavillion was real and was about to erupt and kill us all.

Yes, those parts are definitely the same.

And for the mom wanting to know if the ride is O.K. for her 6-year-old daughter...before I first rode the ride when I was around that age, I was terrified. My mom covered my eyes during the part before the drop (where they have the skeletons on the beach), and after the waterfall, I was fine and couldn't wait to go on the ride again. Of course, kids nowadays seem to be more used to seeing such images, but I appreciate that she did that for me. I would have been freaked out when I was that little. I also remember being a little nervous while being in line as it is so dark.

Also, another technique that I overheard from a CM once...have your daughter look for the dogs and cats during the ride...she'll be looking for those instead of focusing on the pirates (if they would be scary to her).

Hope all goes well! :)
