We’re just back from our trip to DW and I wanted to post some reviews. Reviews below for: Earl of Sandwich (DTD), Chef Mickey’s breakfast, Norway princess breakfast, Teppan Edo (EPCOT Japan), Patisserie in France (EPCOT), Crystal Palace dinner and the Pirate and Princess Party.

First off, we stayed off property at the Fairfield Cypress Palms and really, really liked it. Great property, clean and spacious rooms, close to Disney and lots of shopping and restaurants. We’d highly recommend this complex.

Earl of Sandwich – delicious! We went here for lunch while at DTD and we were so stuffed that we had to cancel our ADR at Whispering Canyon for that evening. It must have been the oh-so-good panini-style bread that they serve the sandwiches on. OMG – sooooo good! I had a tuna sandwich with soda and chips, the kids had peanut butter and jelly and I can’t remember what DH had. We also had 2 of the packaged cookies – the kids shared chocolate chip and DH and I shared the sugar cookie. Yummy! We will definitely go back to EOS next time we are at Disney.

Chef Mickey’s – we had our usual good breakfast at CM. We love the variety at this breakfast and the character interaction. We go here every year and although it is an expensive breakfast, we always book a later ADR so that it doubles as lunch. The kids love the napkin twirling!

Norway Princess Breakfast – while we enjoyed seeing the princesses, we don’t think we’ll return to this restaurant. The food was just okay (not as many choices as Chef Mickey’s) and the princesses were EXTREMELY rushed. The restaurant is big, so I understand that they have to keep moving, but I was still disappointed that they were gone so quickly. It was DD’s birthday and we wanted something special for her, so it fit the bill, but I was somewhat disappointed. For those who are interested in what princesses we saw, Belle was at the door for pictures and greeting and Jasmine, Ariel, Mulan and Sleeping Beauty came to our table.

Teppan Edo – we LOVED our dinner at this restaurant. The Japanese hostesses, servers and table chef were so very gracious and kind (I love their bowing!). Our chef was a female and she was hilarious! She was very attentive, especially to our young kids (3 and 5). All of us enjoyed the chicken with veggies and rice. My kids even learned to use chopsticks! The restaurant is loud or at least it was the night we were there. It was DD’s birthday dinner and they made her a little chef’s hat and sang happy birthday to her and gave her a piece of their ginger cake. We will definitely go back to this restaurant and I can’t wait!

Patisserie in France – yum, yum, yum! We went here after dinner at TE. DH had a pralineige (a chocolate mousse-type pie/cake) and I had a napoleon (absolutely to DIE FOR with HUGE layers of cream – I could cry right now because I have to wait a year to have another…LOL!) Our kids shared a chocolate chip cookie. They have a great assortment of pastries and cookies plus some lunch-type foods (quiche, cheese platter, ham and cheese on a croissant). Definitely check this place out!

Crystal Palace dinner – character interaction very good, food was just okay. I didn’t eat one thing that made me say “yum”, but I found several things that were edible. Not my favorite dinner, but worth it for the kids to see Pooh and Friends.

Pirate and Princess Party – we attended the PPP on January 21st and had an awesome time. The kids loved the special entryway into the MK and had fun with the treasure hunt (they received plastic necklaces and plastic gems and a black drawstring bag to put them in). Our kids don’t know Jack Sparrow, so we didn’t’ bother waiting in line to meet him. We stood in line for what we thought was Cinderella, but it ended up being just the coach and some pumpkins to take your photo in front of (I’m not sure why Cindy wasn’t there – seemed strange to me). We waited in line for almost 40 minutes to see Ariel, but finally gave up because the line was not moving (we ended up seeing her at Norway, so that worked out well). Our main aim was not to see characters, but I was a little let down that they didn’t have more princesses around (we did see all of them in the parade). The best part of the night was that we were able to walk on almost every single ride! We rode Buzz Lightyear 4 times in a row and just walked on. If your aim is to get on lots of rides, this night is for you! We will definitely go back!

Let me know if you have any questions….I’d be happy to help.

Thank you for the post! Sounds like an excellent time. I was considering Earl of Sandwich for our trip good to hear it was good. I was also excited to hear your post on the P&PP. I am thinking about going just for the rides. Did you purchase your tickets in advance or at the gate?? Just curious if it sells out.

I'm bummed by your Crystal Palace review - we are having lunch there in a few months. :(

Otherwise - everything sounds good!

Don't be bummed. It's one of my favorite places for lunch. They have an awesome Salmon. The OP is from Canada, and having travleled there in the past, Canadian food is quite remarkable and that could by why the review was so-so. Our neighbors to the north have definatley refined their cooking and dining to that of the Europeans.

Having said that, it sounds like a back handed recommendation for CP, but we truly enjoyed it and consider ourselves foodies.

I found the Crystal Palace gross! I found about 3 things that were barely edible and that was it!

We purchased our tickets ahead. I think that's the way to go - so great to save a little extra. I'm not sure hwo busy it was at the gates, as we entered the park at 4:30. That is a big tip for the PPP that we were aware of because of this board. The tickets are for 7pm until 12 midnight, but you can actually enter the park at 4:30. Go figure! We did just that and enjoyed the extra few hours. We were able to have dinner and not use our PPP time.

Thanks for the compliment on our Canadian cooking!

Crystal Palace was not completely gross. I did find some things to eat (a roasted chicken, some salmon which I liked except for the weird green sauce all over it, salad, bread, a baked pasta. You won't go hungry. The desserts were actually really good. There just wasnt' anything on the buffet that I tried that was delicious. Does that make sense?

Hey!!! Remember not everyone will like buffets and the like:earboy2: ......I enjoyed CP alot. My husband on the other hand does not like buffets, we did CP just for the characters. but as buffets go my husband said it wasn't bad. We are going back to CP this Sept.

We could never have seen all the Pooh characters...obtained autographs and photos if it were not for CP. We saw Poohpooh: ....Eyore:eeyore: .....Tigger:tigger: .....Piglet:mickeybar

I hope this helps! :wizard: :wizard:

Thanks for the review. We'll be having breakfast at Chef Mickey's and at Akershus in Norway.
