we went the 20th and left this morning. We had such an amazing time. We went two years ago in January, and we had so much more fun this time. Here are a couple of my thoughts on the week. Sorry this turned out longer than I thought it would. Don't know if I have too much info or not.

-AM EMH are must dos for us from now on (didn't last time). HS on Sunday we rode RNRC twice, tot, star tours a couple times, let my nephew play in the playground, ride great movie ride, saw Indian jones ate lunch and were at Epcot by 1. Monday went to AK and rode Everest three times and the safari and were in MK by 930. We missed the AM EMH Thursday and Friday because we were out late the nights before, but wish we could've made them too.

-hoppers and afternoon FP are also a must for us (once again didn't last time). When we hopped to Epcot Sunday we rode TT then did FPs for spaceship, nemo, and TT again. We also explored innovations and relaxed before dinner at 6. It was a jam packed day, but couldn't have went smoother. No waiting at all. The rest of the week was the same with FP. Rode early at one park, then took advantage of FP when crowds were heavier. Even days we didn't get out early we enjoyed the FP in the afternoon.

-hoppers were amazing. Went to three parks two days. Yeah, it was tiring, but we didn't wait long for buses and it all just flowed amazingly. The hoppers let us take it easy knowing we could go back to any park at any time.

-crowds were manageable. HS studios was getting packed when we left Sunday at noonish. Monday and Friday at MK were kind of a mess after noon. Long waits for everything (small world was 45 minutes when we walked by Monday afternoon). Wednesday AM it rained and called for rain later so MK was slow. We got so much done. Took some dollar tree ponchos (which we ended up not needing) and went about our day. I recommend going to parks when it's raining or change if this was the norm. Other than early morning and rain the parks were not slow like I've heard they used to be, but they were mostly manageable.

- cast members were all great. No one really went out of their way, but any time we asked a question we were helped and felt like the genuinely cared.

- we went to DS Thursday night and leaving was an absolute disaster (we were there sat afternoon and went smooth). We tried to leave about 1030 to sports and waited about 40 minutes with no bus. All stars were sharing and the line was RIDICULOUS. It stretched through probably 5 long zig zags then back through the walkway probably quarter way up the bus terminal. They did bring two buses when they came and we were near the end of the second, but (no exaggeration) they probably needed at least 6 buses to get everyone out. I wonder how long the people behind us had to wait. While we waited we saw port Orleans 4 times, and Coronado 3. I'm usually mild mannered but I was pretty mad. Clearly someone dropped the ball.

-buses were pretty awesome other than that. One day leaving sports we waited about 40 minutes for an MK bus and one evening leaving Hs We waited quite a bit but it was after fireworks. We shared quite a bit coming back to the resort from the park (not evenings more afternoon) but other than going to DS Thursday night we never shared going somewhere. Even sharing on the way back was no issue. They kept the buses coming fast.

-sports was an ok resort. I prefer something a little roomier/nicer but it was nice saving a bit of money. We stayed AOA and CR and while they are much nicer, we really only slept and swam a bit so no need for the nicer room.

-just an FYI. We did resort check in and when we got to the tsa agent two of our five boarding passes wouldn't scan. He said it happens quite often for people who use Disney check in. Not sure how that could happen, but he knew right away we came from a Disney resort when it didn't scan. We had to go print another boarding pass and wait in line another twenty minutes to get through. Luckily we were early as it was almost an hour ordeal to get through security all told. So if I were you (and we will next time) print out boarding passes on your own (even if they give you them) just to be safe.

-really enjoyed FOF MSEP parades. I'm not a parade person but watched both twice. Also loved wishes, Star Wars fireworks, and fantasmic (didn't make illuminations).

So sorry for the ramble. Hope I didn't bore everyone. I enjoyed reading people's experiences before I went, so figured I'd add mine.

Sounds like you had a great time! Not boring at all, always like to hear the details so glad to read it! Thanks for sharing your trip! :)

- AM EMH: I hope to try them one of these days. I discovered on this last trip with my 17-year-old son (who is NOT a morning person) that the early morning stuff will have to be something I try on one of my solo trips. They sound wonderful! Seems like you got a lot accomplished during that time.

- hoppers and afternoon FP: I love hopping from park to park (we get APs). That flexibility is really nice. I learned (the hard way) that afternoon FP's worked better for us. This was our first time with the new FP+ and I really didn't have a good strategy and made too many early morning ones, which didn't work so good for us. I think afternoon would be better in our case.

Wow, the bus incident from DS sounds like a mess. Bummer...that's a really long time to wait.

Overall seems like you had a great trip...yay! :)

I don't know why they have such issues with DS transportation. It's been that way for years, and it doesn't really matter what resort you are staying in. You might have seen 4 buses for Port Orleans, but that can often mean that there hasn't been a bus there for a very long time. I was at AoA last month, and I had to wait more than 45 minutes for a bus back from DS (and since there wasn't one there when I was walking up, it's hard to tell how long it had been since the last one), and when it showed up, two showed up together. They just can't seem to get it right. That's one reason I usually don't recommend that people use DS as a transportation hub to get somewhere on property. I think if you are going resort to resort, you are almost always better off to go to a theme park and switch buses if at all possible. If it's late at night, sometimes it's really worth the cash to take Uber or a taxi instead of the DS buses. I am hopeful that when they get the new DS bus depot finished that they will improve the situation. I think part of it could be that the bus area is just too small right now to have as many buses going in and out as they need to keep everyone moving. The new depot will be much larger, so there should be no excuses.

Glad the rest of your trip was great!

Thanks for the report! Sounds like you had a great time! Sounds like we are going to have to try a morning EMH or two. I usually avoid them, but if my nephew can ride R&R a few times with very little wait, I'm sure i can get him out of bed super early!

Thank you for the report, especially with DS. We are trying to figure out when to go and I was planning to avoid Saturday. Was it very crowded on Saturday?

Your touring style sounds much like ours. I am not sure how people discourage the AM EMH in terms of getting the "bang for your buck" so to speak in terms of crowds. WE have found the PM EMHs not nearly as productive. But the trade off is getting up early (we have small kids and work so daily routine for us)...Glad you had a great time!

Sounds awesome! We are about 30 days out from our trip. Glad you had such a great trip. We have found that each trip for us over the last 5 years has been better and better as we become more experienced at touring WDW.

I think AM EMH can be very effective especially if you hop somewhere else around noon. If not you get stuck in a park that is going to be significantly more crowded due to EMH drawing in big crowds from the on site resorts.

If the boys are into riding rides, hopefully the idea of riding multiple times is enough to get them out of bed. We walked (briskly but not running) to RNRC and by the time we got their we were on the second ride of the day. We went right back through walking right into the studio room, then no line once out to get into the coaster. We probably could've ridden 4 or 5 more times quickly, but moved along. Walked on TOT then walked and glanced and RNRC still said 5 minutes.

Everest was the same. Brisk walk back (we weren't there for opening like HS), and rode twice no waiting at all. Then walked right on safari.

For anyone else, I would recommend figuring out where the taxis/ubers are. We got in line and looked at uber, but had no idea where to go (as I said before, we aren't regulars) so we just waited. It would've surely been with the money.

We left probably about 4 on Saturday and had no issues at all. DS was crowded, but we didn't wait long or notice any huge bus lines to leave.

I'm not a morning person, but like you, get up for work so just kept my normal routine. Even if people don't have hoppers, they could do everything they wanted early (especially headliners) then do slower things or go back to the resort for a bit maybe heading back for night show. Missing AM EMH wont happen for us in the future. As for PM EMH, we didn't experience it much. Wednesday we got in line just before 10 (when EMH started) and waited about 30 minutes for 7D. We walked out through tomorrowland and walked on some things there. It was a slow day to begin with (rain) so not sure if the PM EMH would be worth it or not.

Agreed about hopping. That's the best way to take advantage of crowds and EMH.
