We were in the world from Sept. 29 - Oct. 9. We hit the tail end of free dining.

Weather: Fantastic! We had one afternoon where it rained for 10 minutes. On a couple other days, it rained a few raindrops, but that was it for the entire trip. Weather was sunny, between 88 and 92 (or so our lifeguard chair read!) each day.

Crowds: They were definitely heavier than we expected, especially this past weekend due to Columbus Day. The Wine & Food festival must be very popular for Floridians b/c the weekends were mobbed. We always had to use fastpass on Soarin' since I never saw the standby line drop to less than 55 minutes the whole week (especially bad on weekends - up to 110 minutes). During the week, the crowd wasn't as bad, but we still used fast pass a lot. We didn't mind the crowd so much for ride/show waits (we always use fast pass if possible and never wait more than 20min. for anything). The struggle was just in walking around the parks. We just left during the really heavy times or switched to a different park.

Food: Wow! This trip, we ate ate Boma, Kona Cafe, Coral Reef, Artist Point, Planet Hollywood, Le Cellier, Wolfgang Puck Cafe, Narcoossee's & Concourse Steakhouse. All were good (favourites were Wolfgang Puck and Narcoossee's). For our counter service meals, we did end of sharing (or I basically had a few bites of dh's meal!). We ate at Pop Century food court, Flame Tree, Sunshine Seasons, Tangerine Cafe, Cosmic Ray's, Toy Story Pizza Planet, Pepper Market, Old Port Royale, Mara, Wolfgang Puck Express. All were fine, but highlights were WPE, Old Port Royale (fantastic spicy turkey club) and Flame Tree. For our snacks, dh basically lived on sundaes and smoothies. I had some of those, but also had fudge (boardwalk and MGM), spicy pretzel and rice krispie treat at DTD smothered in chocolate, m&m's and white chocolate and caramel drizzle. Oy! We had leftover credits so we just bought some take-home snacks for friends and family.

Pop Century: This was our first time staying there. We liked the resort and liked the music at the various pools. I liked how the food court had slushies for your refillable mugs. It's very similar to other Value hotels, but I might give it a slight edge over All-Star since you can see fireworks from the hotel.

Transportation: We had a car for most of the trip, but we did use the bus for the final 3 days. It worked fine for us, until parks ended. Getting onto a bus after MK closed was chaos. Buses broke down, people were yelling, and our line kept growing while no bus came for a few minutes. We did make it home eventually, but on two nights (again, could be because of Columbus Day weekend) we ran into the same problem. Still, as far as problems go, this was definitely manageable!

Basically, we had a wonderful time! We enjoyed all the new things this trip (Expedition Everest, mild version of Mission: Space, Turtle Talk, Captain Sparrow in PotC). We also went to the Oct. 2 Halloween Party. We got so much candy, that we're probably going to give some away. It was a lot of fun. It's hard to get back into reality. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer. I will be doing a full trip report later this week.

"Welcome back" :wizard: Sounds like you had a wonderful trip! It's good to hear about Pop Century, as my mom and I will be staying there for the first time this Dec. Which building did you stay in? I asked that we stay by the Lady and the Tramp building(50's area). And how did you like Pop Century's food court & Gift shop?

Thanks in advance! :goodvibes

We went Sep 24 to Oct 3rd.

I feel bad...crowds were very light till the 29th...Epcot was PACKED that day.

On the 25th, we did the entire MK by 2:00pm! We did most of Epcot....

By the 29th, crowds had increased sifigingantly. Sorry that they were heavy during your trip.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time.

Since I am all into FOOD ... tell me about Le Cellier because I have ADR there for Nov 8th and also about Flametree BBQ ... have not picked our CS for AK and think this may be it. DH and I ate at Tusker House last time. :sunny:

IMO FT BBQ is THE best place to eat at AK. LOVE hteir pork sandwiches, just be sure to get some extra BBQ sauce to add to it. for desert we choose the lemon ice....it stays cool for awhile and it great to eat in the parks. BEST thing about FT is their eating area. Walk around back to the left and just keep going. Don't sit in the first area you see. It winds around and you'll find quieter more secluded areas as you go. And many w/ a pretty view of EE!!! It is a wonderful place for lunch. Good food, and a nice quiet retreat from the park.

Welcome back. Even with a few glitches, it sounds like you still had a great time!

Thanks Mrs OJO for telling me about FT -- I think we will give it a try. I know DH will LOVE the Pork BBQ ... have you tried the chicken? Trying not to turn this into the DINING FORUM ... but .... :teeth:

Hi! We just got back from a super-fantastic-amazing- magical 10th anniversary trip!!! I was wondering about the crowds... seemed pretty dang crowed to me, but this being my first time... I didn't know what to compare it to. We were there from sept 29th through Oct 8th... the CMs all said the crowds weren't that bad... But it sure seemed crowded to us... but HEY! No complaints, we had the best time of our lives!!!

Stitch's O'hana - We were in the 50's section (on the side of the Tramp). We really liked being so close to the bowling pin pool. They play great 50's music there so we used this pool more than the main pool which was always busier. The food court was all right. I wouldn't say it was outstanding, but it was sufficient. I liked the slush machines so I found myself getting many slushes during those hot days. The store is smaller than I expected, but it had many of the popular items you find in the parks and DTD. The staff were very friendly. Have a great trip!!

SnwflkCts - I agree with the person who highly recommends Flame Tree. The food quality is terrific and it's really nice sitting by the water while you eat. At Le Cellier, we had some great smoothies as our beverages. For appetizers, I had a tomato/cheese salad which was quite tasty and dh had a caesar sald which he didn't really care for. We both had a filet for our entree, but with different flavour/seasonings. Both were fantastic and positively melted in your mouth!! We both recommend the filet mignon. I had creme brulee for dessert (the sampler - vanilla and maple) and dh had the sorbet with fruit. Again, the desserts were a great hit. Our waitress found out that we were celebrating our anniversary and surprised us with a signed card from the staff. It was definitely one of the best meals of the trip. Have fun!!

DisneymomAA - I hope you do make it to the F&W festival sometime. It's fantastic for the tastebuds!

Disneyworldwisher - Wow! What a difference a few days makes for crowds! Glad you had so much fun! The crowds were heavy at Epcot for us, but we managed. Planning is key isn't it!!!

Thanks everyone!

Indeed it is. To be fair though, we only beat the crowds because we didn't take anytime to rest. :rotfl2:

'Ok, we've seen Soarin'...HURRY! To Test Track! RUN!' :rotfl:

We were there Sept. 28-Oct. 3 and TOTALLY agree about the busses after MK closed. We went to MK the night of Sept. 28, watched Wishes, then waited for the crowds to thin out. Headed to the busses (for the Swan/Dolphin) and the lines were still VERY LONG. We watched and waited for busses - one here or there while the stops surrounding us (Pop & ASMu?) would get 2 at a time. It took 1 hour to get from MK to our hotel!! After that I vowed never to take a bus at closing again - I'll drive instead!!!

Glad you had a great trip - weather was perfect, crowds reasonable and we also loved the FT BBQ and Le Cellier!!! :teeth:
