Just Back from WL Concierge Upgrade

We had a WL room booked at $124 per night. At check-in I asked for the upgrade to concierge. The upgrade was $55 per night and was well worth the money. I'd be happy to answer any questions.

not about concierge but about that rate of $124. How the heck did you get that? We're leaving in 10 days staying in a courtyard view room and our rate is $145 - with a Cast Member Second Bedroom Discount. I didn't think it could get any better than that.

We had concierge booked originally and the rate for the CM discount was $214 per night but we decided to save some $$ and switch to non-concierge. It's just me and my hubby and the only thing we've found concierge to be good for was the food offerings....and then mainly for breakfast.

Tell me why you thought it was worth the $55 per night.

We have a standard room booked for our August trip and I really want to get up the nerve at check-in to ask about an upgrade to Concierge level (hoping for a price like you got or less).
How did you go about asking and did they give you a hard time at all about asking?
Give me some advice!

1) $124 per night was for a standard view. Got an email code for the rate

2) Why was concierge worth $55 per night

First was the convenience issue. With a four year old and a 15 month old it was so easy to get breakfast and still get to the parks early. It never seemed like we were in a rush.

Next was the food. We would eat a good lunch at the parks and use the concierge snack as our dinner. We were never hungry. Between the hot item and the soup, cheeses, veggies there is plenty to fill you up.

Last was the wine. We enjoy wine (although we can't afford good wines) so the ~ $10/bottle wines suited our taste and we had our share!! Also I thought the selection of liquors was good as well.

3) How did I ask for the upgrade.

I said "I'd like to upgrade to concierge". The CM looked at a list and said it would be a $55 upgrade based on my room rate and I said "OK"

I'm leaving in 10 days also. I got an annual pass rate of 270 for concierge. I would love to know how to do this cheaper.

Millipore, thanks for the report. When you get upgraded, did you still have a standard room or did they upgrade you to a better room?

Tigger/Pooh - if you absolutely need concierge, to book that concierge is the only way to go. However, if you would be happy w/o concierge, then you can book another room and see if conceirge is available upon check-in.

I have a woods view room booked for late August and I was told by WL that I would pay $45 to upgrade to the concierge if it is available.

So it seems to be

$35 upgrade if you have courtyard view
$45 w/woods view
$55 w/standard view

the code was AFK and we were sent a PIN. However when I booked the room I was not asked for a PIN...

I have this same rate and it came on a postcard and they also asked for my pin#.

I never get anything like that. The best rate I have ever gotten is an AP rate. I wish I could get a post card in the mail

Millipore: Do you remember how late the food & beverages were out in the evening? If parks close at 9, do they leave it out till 10 - that sort of thing.

From 8:00 - 10:00 pm there were cookies, brownies, etc + milk, wine, liquors. By 10:01, the table was empty.

So if you stay for any of the late night park activities, you probably will not make it back for these items.

A "dinner"/snack is served from 5:00 - 7:00 + pop, wine, juice boxes.

But you bring up a good point, the concierge service really should last until 10:30 if not 11:00.

Breakfast runs from 7:00 to 9:00 am and included


OJ, Apple Juice, Milk (white in big carafes) , Coffee, Hot Chocolate, Teas (selection of six)

Bagels (two or three types)
Mufiins (two or three types)
Six different Cereals (mostly kids kinds) + fresh fruit cut-up
Croissants
Apples, Oranges, Bananas

Items available on request (that we know of)

several types of yogurts
juice boxes
bottled water
Chocolate milk

Thanks Millipore, this is just the kind of information I wanted to know about concierge. I don't think it would be an advantage for us. With small children in tow I bet it worked out great for you. Glad you had a good time.
