Just back from VB & SSR WITH FRANCES PUSHING US HOME!!

Just got home today and first of all let me start by saying I am praying for everyone in Fl to stay safe cause it is very scary there right now..we got to Fl last Sat and stayed at POP century before our trip to VB on Sun..4 adults and 2 children..arrived at VB and had a wonderful stay there the resort is really beautiful, my son's godmother who just moved to Melbourne this past Nov came and spent the day with us and my son took us all out to eat at Shutters which was the most delious meal that I have had there,had some champange fablous desert and we discussed what we were going to do about the hurricane coming..we should have left to go to the airport as this was Wed and come straight home but no we drove to SSR and then we paniced..on tv THEY ANNOUNCED THEY WERE CLOSING MCO started calling SW but all flights were booked and gone roads were clogged and could not travel so we decided to hunker down at SSR we were in a 2 bdrm we figured what better place to be..at this point let me say that the resort is beautiful but you are very isolated from the main bldg as we were in congress park I wanted to be in BW or BC but I went to the front desk and they let me extend my vist till Mon which he told me if we leave let them know and they will put the points back in my account..on fri I called SW again and they told me they had a flight out of Tampa at 5pm Sat..I took it and we left Sat morning at 8am as I was up 4:30 making ham & eggs for breakfast..got to Tampa and turned the rental car in took the shuttle from National as they are not at the airport and was checking in at 10:30am and they said it was too early to check in for the 5pm flight asked them if we could take an earlier flight which they had one going at 1:15 put us on standby and thank God cause WE WERE THE LAST PLANE OUT AS THEY CLOSED TAMPA AIRPORT ALSO!! My husband and I had been looking to move to Fl but this whole experince has thought us to think this over..spoke to my friend in Melbourne and as she was crying saying she was very scared I know that I just want to go down Dec to April and don't think we can do that right now will have to go thru another winter here and hope for the best..please pray that everyone in Fl will be safe as this is a very BIG hurricane. any ? feel free to ask..Marianne.

Hi Bunnymkc,

Well we are NOW at SSR at of course Congress Park in a 1 bed room. We had flights on SW scheduled for Sunday evening. The best SW could do for us was for Monday so here we sit. At least we are on the third floor. We have had rain squalls since about 11;30am. Took awalk around the resort over by the quiet pool around 4 and already there are some trees down by the pool.

They handed out flash lights and had the store open until 4:00pm. All parks are closed and will again be closed tomorrow, Sunday. Glad you got home safely.

Dear cindy and kenny am praying for you and yours and all the people who have to go thru this..we had called SW as we were supposed to leave Mon nite started calling on Wed nothing available,,when I tried again fri lo and behold tampa was available but as I said the 5pm was cancelled..I think they added the 1:15 as the airport closed as soon as we took off..praying for you and hope you get home soon..Marianne

We got out of TPA on a 6:00 am flight. We left OKW @ 11:00 pm (not sure if there was going to be a traffic jam or not). MY DD slept on the airport floor while DH and myself played cards. We just wanted to get to the airport, check in the rental car and be the first out of Florida.

My Sister and her family are still @ OKW and are scheduled out for Monday. I am praying they can leave by Monday.

My parents are supposed to go to Vero Sept. 19th and when this is over I think we will be changing their trael plans until January.
