Got back yesterday :( and had a wonderful time - what a magical resort!!! Stayed in room 1410 in Tuvalau. LV, view of GF, Castle & Space Mountain (slightly obscured by foliage) and CR. Had Disney Ducks and one white Ibis visit every morning on the patio. They were test firing Wishes every night so I got to see it quite frequently! Unfortunately, it was at like midnight or 1 AM!

Got towel animals or special touches every day - our mousekeeper was Belmarie and she was the best!

Just want to thank everyone who responded to my request for help choosing a location. The info was right on the mark!!!

As someone who gets up at 5am every day for work, and lives closer to the fireworks than the Poly... I can tell you, you're not the only one who might have been unhappy about the late night shootings. The worst times are when they test one or two shells... wait 20 minutes (just enough time for me to fall back asleep) and then shoot off another few.

At any rate... I believe they only did one or two of the late night shootings (at midnight). The rest were 10ish.

Thanks for the info about the POLY..
We are staying at POLY for the 1st time 10/24-31.
Any tips or advise on what not to miss at the resort??

11 days and counting!!!

Hi - glad you enjoyed your stay so much! We're going down the end of next month with our two little DSs. I see that you were on the 1st floor. If I remember correctly, the LV rooms in Tuvalu don't have a beach in front of them, just grass. How close is it to the lagoon, and is the water securely blocked off? I ask b/c my almost 3 yo DS is a daredevil, and I'm worried that he'd just dive into the water in a second. Also, how close was the beach? We stayed in Tahiti last time, and enjoyed it a lot, but I was looking for something different if possible.

Thanks!

Glad to hear you had such a great trip and enjoyed the special magic of the Polynesian. We'll be there again in a little over a month and I can't wait.

How was Wishes from the Polynesian? I've always enjoyed the fireworks from the Polyneaisn more than right in the MK and wondering if Wishes will be different in that respect.

Did you get to use the pool at the poly? What did you think of the walk from tuvula? Can't wait for our return! thanks, MKY

I was also wondering how the view of the fireworks is from Poly. Would you consider watching from there instead of in the park? My kids are both a little gun-shy of the loud noise and thought this might be a better perspective for them.

...I think that might have been our room number!!

Momofmikey...the ground floor rooms at Tuvalu have locking patio doors, that an adventuresome 3yr old could open if he really wanted too..after that, there is about three feet of patio, two feet of grass, a rope (purely decorative) fence, and then splish splash:( The small beach on the way to Luau cove is right out the exit doors, and there was never anyone else there when we had the urge to make sandcastles with our two four yr olds

redwingsmickey...definitely head over to the Polynesian for the fireworks...it is still noisy, but nowhere near the volume at the MK

Enjoy!:sunny:

Tyler: I think you are right. But, after dawn till dusk at the parks with a VERY independent 4 yr old DS that thinks he's Buzz Lightyear and a DH who only wanted to ride mission space (7 times!) 10:00 can sure seem like midnight!

flora, fauna, meriweth: Try to do the character meal at Ohana, it was great. Definitely eat at Kona Cafe: for breakfast, try the Tonga Toast; and if you like coffee, you MUST get the press pot of Kona coffee. Try Kona for dinner as well - the Mahi Mahi was fabulous. And they were very accomodating - the Mahi Mahi was supposed to be made with Macadamia nuts, which I love but am deathly allergic to, and the chef prepared it without them. I did not use the pool myself, but DH took DS and he liked it.

momofmikey: the ground floor rooms are just as mbb described. The doors have a lock - depending on how ingenious your DS is, he may be able to open them - and they do not have a screen door (which I find strange, since florida is known for their bugs). You also have to watch for the disney ducks on your patio!

BCV23 & redwingsmickey: The fireworks were beautiful from the poly - I imagine they were much better from the beach by Tahiti - from my patio, you could only see the top quarter of the castle, but you could see the fireworks very well. It was loud, but not opressivly so. My DS just covered his ears (which he does whenever he just THINKS something will be loud) and he was fine.

mkymouse4ever: As I said above, I did not use the pool myself, but DH & DS did, and enjoyed it. I did walk over, however, and did not feel the walk was bad. Maybe 5 mins strolling. Walking around was one of the best parts of the resort - except when it was raining (which it did only once, thank God!)

Any other questions, just let me know!!!
