just back this week from the fort, and even though we had a wonderful time, transportation was a challange. We have stayed at fw before without problems. first our cabin # was 2631 it was at least 1/4 a mile from the bus stop. luckily we found a short cut through the woods to the 2800 loop bus stop. internal busses were not a problem at all. never had to wait more than about 10 minutes. It was the busses to and from the parks. we had to wait an hour once for the mgm bus, and one day comming back from AK we had to wait 40 min!!! Its like there were not enough busses so FW got shoved to the side. we would sometimes see the other resort busses 2-3 times before one of ours came. Just dont get impatient. Its hard, but dont let it ruin your trip, just make sure you leave plenty early!!!!!!!!!!!!

It always seemed to me that the MGM bus was the hardest to get; had the longest wait.

I have to agree, just back from 15 days at the fort and wait times for busses seem to be a bit longer. There were several instances where the wait for a bus was in excess of 30 minutes. Then once at AK waiting for a bus back to the fort and once at DTD waiting for a bus back to the fort, the wait time was in excess of 45 minutes.

I think they may have cut back a bit on the number of busses running.

Due to the frustrations of waiting for buses, we have decided to drive to all of the parks (except MK). With wait times in excess of 45 minutes sometimes, you can waste too much time. It's just as easy to drive and stay relaxed. To me there's nothing worse then sitting in the hot sun waiting for a bus that might be standing room only. When I'm ready to leave the parks, I'm ready to go!!

We have found it to be much faster to just drive to the parks (except MK). No matter where we are staying, we always drive to the parks. I can't stand waiting around for a bus when I get to the parks so much faster.

My brother and parents drove a lot of times when we were there, but the transportation to me is the biggest perk for staying onsite, otherwise I would consider staying offsite. We dont want to drive 16 hours to disney and have to drive everywhere once we get there. I want to be carted around, spoiled a little.

I'm glad to know this. While we're at FW for the July 4th week, MGM is the only park we're planning on going to other than Typhoon Lagoon.

We've only used the busses to go outside FW once and I wasn't real thrilled with the wait time either. And as someone else said, I saw busses come through 2-4 times for the same park and not a soul got on them. Hopefully they'll be running full-force during the holiday week!!

We too just returned and I have to agree. Although the internal busses were great, the external busses were horrible. We had several major issues. Once we were running to catch an MGM bus and one of our party made it to the bus. The bus driver closed the door and left our party behind. There was another driver at the stop and he was in shock. He told me to call dispatch and left them know what happened. I did call and talked to a transportation supervisor about that incident and a couple of other incidents. The supervisor apologized. He said that although it wasn't an excuse for bad service, they were having an issue with alot of driver's calling in sick. He was a very nice guy and although I told him I did not want anything (except better service), he insisted on treating us to dinner. We ate at Rose and Crown and had a wonderful view of Illuminations. Considering there were 8 of us, he really went above and beyond to make up for the poor service we had received.

Hey Tinkerjo, I think my wife met you at the campgrounds. :wave2:

rescueranger, yes I did meet your wife at the settlement trading post. It was really neat to meet a fellow dis'er. I tell everyone I know about these boards and mousesavers. you learn alot and can sometimes save a lot of money.just so happened when I mentioned it she said oh my husband is rescueranger on there. We had a great time but its nice to be home.

No matter what park I'm going to I always take the boat from FW over to Contemporary, take monorail around to TTC. It's much faster to catch a bus to any park from TTC or take the monorail to Epcot. Of course, going to MK I just take the boat from FW to MK.

We have relied exclusively on Disney transportation on our last few trips and have absolutely loved parking the car and not having to move it for the duration of our trip.

However after reading of FW's problems with buses we have decided to drive to all the parks except MK. It'll be interesting to compare how we like it this way.

Thanks for the info!

Just got back from the Fort yesterday. There were a couple of days that the bus driver said they were short a couple of buses, so it did take longer going to MGM and AK. We drove to the further parks the last couple of days then. Especially if you're leaving when others are leaving, we got left at the bus stop more than once because of too many to fit on the bus. In most cases the transportation worked fine, just watch what time you'll be leaving so as not to be caught up in the rush of people.
