Just got back a couple of days ago.

Stayed in room 9062 in Oak Manor. Convenient room to most things - especially the quiet pool/laundry.

I didn't go to the main pool (ol' man's island) to swim - walked around it once and it was very nice, but LOTS of children. Since this was my DH and my anniversary, we didn't want to be around lots of kids (and we went to Disney...lol). We swam almost everyday in the quiet pool. There were never more than a half of dozen other people in it and about half the time we were the only ones in it!

The grounds were beautiful, the rooms were really nice - and CLEAN! And our housekeeper was great - we got messages in towels on our other bed every day!! First day she wrote out "Hello" with facecloths, the next day she added a heart with a rose (she knew it was our anniversary as I had balloons in the room), the next day she added a bird and a butterfly, and the final one she added was a giant minnie mouse (complete with a bow!).

At the end we took apart her "hello" (she left them there all the time!) and wrote out "thank u" with the facecloths and hand towels. That was fun.

I thought the resort was very beautiful and I loved the convenience of the boat to DTD after 4pm!

Any questions about the resort???

Thanks for the information. Looking forward to our trip in December - first time on site.

We will be staying at POR mid-Oct, and have requested Mag. Bend area. Did you request Oak Manor, or were you just lucky to get it? If you did request, how did you go about doing it? Thanks for any help, and thanks for making us feel as though we have made a good decision to stay at POR.

Hi Dulluth!

I did request Magnolia Bend - Non-smoking. Got Oak Manor. Was VERY pleased with it (the pool beside Oak Manor is nice).

Guess I got lucky...though when I made the reservation I EMPHASIZED how important non-smoking was to me (I don't have asthma, but I do have an extremely hard time breathing around smoke).

Plus I checked in really early (before noon) - that may have helped a bit too....

I'll probably be going back to Disney in February (before February vacation) and I MAY drive the camper down - if I do, then I'll be staying at Ft Wilderness Campground - if I don't then I'll probably be booking into POR again!!

Funny you should mention the camper thing, as my DH's goal for our next WDW trip it to have a RV to drive down in and stay at WC! To me, it looks as though the Oak Manor and Magnolia Terrace Buildings are the most convenient...seems like you thought your location was good?! Again, thanks for the information!

Yes, the location was good. It WAS a long walk to the bus-stop (I thought).

One thing to consider: Everyone talks about the great deals the refillable cups are. They are $11.50ish after tax. If you eat breakfast, are you going to want to walk back to your room to return the cup - or carry it around with you all day!? There were times that we walked down for a snack or dinner and forgot our cups....we JUST made it worth it as we filled it 5 times total....

Just keep that in mind...

Also, on a different note: Our first day in the parks we had a fanny-pack...then realized it was just as easy to carry our camera around my DH's neck (okay - easier for me! lol). The lines through security were LONG - without a bag we were able to by-pass the lines...and get into the parks about 10 minutes early. So, if you can get away without a bag, try to do it! :-) Besides, food and water isn't unreasonable prices in the parks (bottled water is $2.50 for a 24 ounce bottle, not for only 8 ounces as reported on the buget board awhile back)...

Have fun!!!! :-)

Hi!! Glad you had a great trip! We are going next Sat to POR and I was wondering if you noticed if they had the 100 year refillable mugs there?? Thanks!

They do have refillable mugs, but mine doesn't say anything special for the 100 years of magic (just says Port Orleans on it).
