Just back from POP, Monday May 28. The "good / bad".

Thanks for your honest trip report. I've only stayed at a mod before, but am considering POP for a quick birthday trip weekend. Since it's only for a few days, I think I can live with the cons you listed. We won't be in the room much this trip!

EXACTLY :thumbsup2

We stayed at CR (Tower) in June of '06 and at POP (standard) in March of '07. I can honestly say there's not much difference in useable space between the two resorts. I felt no less crowded while staying in a deluxe than I did staying in a value.

We finally got wise and decided to start booking *two* rooms for our family. Twice the space, half the family drama!

As far as bed hardness, I'm too exhausted to contemplate how hard or soft the mattresses have been at any resort. Just as long as they're reasonably horizontal, I'm good.

We love Pop. The beds are just fine. I didn't notice that they were any "harder" than anywhere else.

If it weren't for Pop and the All Stars, we wouldn't have a Disney vacation at all. Why be so hard on the values? Enjoy them. You're at Disney! :thumbsup2

We're from ENgland and it makes us smile when many of you in the US talk about the 'small' double beds and the lack of space in the rooms. To us the beds are enormous and the rooms rather spacious. Not a critiscism, just a smiley thought.

Hey WDWmike...we're neighbours, I'm from Brampton!!!!

What would that certain age be?? LOL!!!:confused3

Hey 5boyz! Oh you know, anyone over 40. My favourite thing was looking at the displays in the lobby, trying to see how many of those things I used to have, especially from the '60's and '70's. :happytv:

Hey WDWmike....I fall into that category....imgine that!!! So what part of Mississauga do you live in? My hubby lived Tomken & Bloor, he went to Applewood!

I'm not from Europe, but my family of five lives in a tiny house with one full bath, with (gasp!) just one sink!

I always laugh when people say how hard it is to have only one sink on vacation... Really? My family of five (two adults, three preschoolers) manages to wash up and brush teeth quite well each and every day at one sink!

:rotfl: :confused3

aprild yes they have hair dryers do leave yours at home...lol one less thing to pack!

I get so confused reading the Good and the Bad posted from everyone. I am trying to lean toward staying at Pop just to save some money, but it always seems to end up in a split decision. Some say good, some say bad.
I would like to hear from more people with regards to the beds. Does everyone think that they are rock hard? After a long day at the parks the last thing I want to come back to is a rock hard bed.
Please, other Pop stayers, what did you think about the beds?

:scared: :upsidedow

Hey pixdust, here's another :thumbsup2 for Pop's beds. We thought they were comfortable. Ours was a bit on the firm side but certainly comfortable. We all slept well on them and we'd certainly go back to Pop on our next trip. As for the room size, we didn't find it too small. As our kids get older (9 year old twins) maybe we would think about getting 2 rooms or a bigger room at a mod but for now it meets our needs and budget.

We stayed at Pop from 5/16 to 5/23. The beds were firm but by no means rock hard. I'm one that doesn't like hard beds and I found the beds just fine.

Bonny

I really likes a soft bed and I have never noticed the beds being uncomfortable in the values. They are very comfortable to me.

Also, I must admit that I am someone who likes the finer things of life  and I cannot find anything wrong with the values- they are just fine! In fact, to me they are really, really fun. Sure, I would love to stay at a deluxe at some point (and I am sure that we will one day) but at this time I cannot justify the price difference.

I think you will enjoy POP:banana:

We would agree ... we've stayed in a moderate (CSR) and a value (Pop) and the difference in room size is minimal.

I get a kick out of people who think even the room sizes in the value resorts are too small. This is were I stayed on my vacation Memorial Day week last year. It's called The Surf Hotel and is on Block Island, RI.

The room that I stayed in was on the second floor of the back cottage (the little white building behind the basketball hoop). As you can see there is one twin-sized bed, small sink, dresser, and towel rack. Just like in the main building the bathroom and shower was communal and shared by all guests; like the outbuildings at Fort Wilderness.

Apologies for posting links because even though I resized the photos down to 400x300 from their original 1600x1200 they still showed up really big in reply preview post (as IMG embeded and as links). Not sure if that's a problem with photobucket or disboards but I didn't want DISers getting upset so I figured the links would be the neater option.

Didn't move to Mississauga until after we got married. We are in NW corner Meadowvale area. Which Pop area did you stay in? We stayed in the '50's area for Xmas 2004 and liked it so much we requested it for July 2005. This year is Poly in August for our 25th anniversary. Can't wait. Wouldn't hesitate to stay at Pop again though.

We had the opposite problem with our mattress - dunno, maybe the people before us had kids who used it as a trampoline :rotfl2: ? We knew we were in trouble when I sat on the edge of the bed and had to grab DH to keep from sliding right off. When we went to sleep there was a definite list and you could feel ridges through the sheet (I'm thinking coils?). Btwn the loud neighbors and the mattress, sleeping at POP was 3 of the worst nights sleep we've ever had.

It's back to POFQ for us :thumbsup2

But that is the beauty of WDW, so many choices for so many different preferences.

I'm another one who likes the Pop beds. I've stayed at BC,BCV,and AKL,and the beds weren't any more comfortable than the Pop beds were.

WOW...the Beds seem to be a hot topic here. Everyone has their opinion on beds....comfortable vs. uncomfortable.

I am now waiting to see if anyone has a complaint about the pillows.

Here is a random thought....do you ever wonder if Disney Employees are assigned to lurk on these boards and the minute they see ONE NEGATIVE they have to respond with a postive or a different opinion.....HMMM....just wondering.

4. No in room coffee maker. When i requested one, at first i was told NO. But after constance persuading, we got one. (thank goodness, because the regular coffee in the food court is HORRID. )

Nescafe... YUCK. Why does Disney have such terrible coffee? It isn't the Central Florida water. It's their contract with Nescafe. Nasty, nasty coffee.

Why?
