Yacht Club Review

We stayed in Yacht Club concierge (lagoon view) room number 5151. I cannot say enough good things about the Yacht Club. What a lovely resort-upscale yet relaxed at the same time. The newly renovated rooms are decorated very nicely, and we really loved the small table that pulls out from under the desk. We used it every day to eat our breakfast, and it was so convenient.
The concierge staff was so incredibly friendly and helpful. They
always spoke to us when we passed by and even struck up long conversations with us. I asked to see some of their suites if they were unoccupied, and one of the concierge staff members took us on a nice tour of the empty suites and explained some different features of the ones we didn't see. They were very
luxurious and lovely, but we didn't have enough time in the suites to take pictures of them. The concierge staff was very helpful in making priority seatings for us and was incredibly professional--completely top notch. The food in the lounge was plentiful, but we did not try the evening hors devours (sp?) as they looked a bit too gourmet for our tastes. The breakfast was nice (they had donuts-yum! --as well as bagels, cereal, oatmeal, etc.), and they had a wide variety of mid-day snacks (white cheddar popcorn, pretzels, chips and salsa, little cheesecake slices, etc.). The
dessert offerings were also plentiful, though we were too full to try those. There's always next time to try the desserts, LOL! I highly recommend the Yacht Club, and especially the concierge. The resort is so convenient to Epcot (about a 5 minute walk) and convenient to Disney MGM Studios as well (we took the walking path, and it took about 15-20 minutes at a reasonable pace). Two thumbs up! Here is a link to my pictures:

Polynesian Resort Review

We also stayed at the Polynesian concierge, garden view room number 2532. This was my second time at the Poly concierge, and I thought it was very nice once again. The staff here is very friendly and helpful as well. Before my trip they asked several times via email if I had any special requests, needs, etc. They also honored our request for a non-smoking room. This resort seemed busier than the Yacht Club, and we definitely saw more families with children here than at the Yacht Club. However, despite the business of the resort, it definitely still had a relaxed, tropical feel to it. The food in the Poly's lounge was delicious! The breakfast had bagels, cereal, danishes, and the yummy coconut bread they serve at the character breakfast at 'Ohana. I believe that mid-day snacks were mostly fresh cookies, though we weren't there in the middle of the day to confirm that. I don't believe we had any other meals in the Poly concierge (we were only there 2 nights), but I remember thinking the food was fabulous on my last trip. Bottled water and soft drinks are out for the taking, and the guava juice was wonderful. The Poly itself is a great resort with super convenience to the Magic Kingdom. Also, you can walk directly from the Poly to the TTC, shortening the commute to Epcot quite a bit. The restaurants at the Poly are outstanding--we ate at both 'Ohana and Kona Cafe and were more than pleased with both restaurants. I would also recommend the Poly to anyone who enjoys a relaxed, family-oriented resort. Here is a link to my Poly pictures:

Feel free to ask me any questions about either resort. :)

Thanks for the review, Elisabeth! And, welcome home! :)

Glad to hear you had a nice trip! If you had to decide on one over the other, which concierge would you prefer the most? Thanks!

Thanks for the reviews and pics!

We want to stay at Poly Conc SOOOO bad!:bounce:

You stayed at the two resorts next on my list!! So glad to hear you enjoyed both.

Thanks everyone. :)

Misti, I think if I absolutely had to choose one over the other (which is hard for me to do, so I like to split my stays) I would choose the YC concierge. I can't even put my finger on exactly why, but I think I enjoyed it a little bit more. :)

Thanks, Elisabeth. :) I like to split stays, too. But, I think the next trip will probably be shorter than usual. I'm having a tough time deciding on where to stay next time. I keep hearing such great things about the YC Concierge!

:)

Thanks for the review of these great resorts!

Thanks for your great concierge reviews and pics.

Still hadn't tried the YC concierge, but I'm very tempted to try it soon.

Glad you had a wonderful time!

I hope you don't mind me asking this completely bizarre question, but I saw your picture (which were great) and noticed in the bathroom picture that the showerhead was a hand held shower
messager. Was that yours or do the rooms have them in there now? We always bring ours from home, so I was just curious if I could leave it at home this time.

Thanks, Wendi

The Poly concierge had the hand held shower massager in the shower. If I recall correctly, the YC had a massager shower head, but it was attached to the wall (not hand held). Don't worry about your question--I can't stand poor shower heads that hardly let out any water, so I can totally understand your asking. :)

Hi Elizabeth and welcome home !!! I just got back last night from staying at YC Concierge (How did I not know you were there too??). And I couldn't agree with you more, just love it !!!

Linda

Wow Linda, I can't believe we never ran into each other in the concierge lounge! It was so much fun! I am so glad we got to meet each other! :)

Mom.......LOL, we saw Elizabeth ( and her friend..I am sorry I can't recall her name) in the lobby and on the bus a few times silly! I remembered she was there, but didn't know she was on the concierge floor........LOL!

I remember seeing you guys on the bus, but I can't believe we never saw each other in the concierge lounge. We must've always just missed each other, LOL! :)

Thanks for posting your pictures!! Although after looking at them both Im rethinking my stay at thepoly!! I am a big Yacht and beach club gal. and the newly decorated rooms are sooo pretty!
Ok so tell me why I will love trying the poly!! Thanks!! :)

tnkrbell,

The Poly is a very family-friendly resort, and I found the food in the Poly's lounge to be better overall than the YC (less gourmet and more picky-eater friendly). I do prefer the decor of the rooms at the YC, but the Poly's rooms go very well with the tropical, relaxed theming at the Poly. The monorail is a great convenience, and it's nice to be able to walk from the Poly to the TTC to quickly get to Epcot via monorail too. The pre-planning staff at the Poly was GREAT. I say give it a try so you can form your own opinion about which is your favorite! :)

Thaks ead79!!:) :) I will stick to trying the poly!! Do you remeber how far in advance they contacted you for pre trip planning?? (We arrive Jan,5th??)
Thanks so much for all the info!! :):)

I actually emailed them to make some priority seatings for me, and they corresponded with me several times from that point. So you might go ahead and email them (I got their email address off of Tikiman's website). :)

Tnkrbell-

I agree. We will be arriving on Jan 16 and I emailed them a few weeks ago at the planning office. They are wonderful. I hope I get the same attention when I am actually a guest. Hopefully you'll be able to post a trip report before we leave so I can get your impressions too.

Thanks Elisabeth for all the great info and pictures.
